Default ABS Light only when SCS jumped.

01 DC2R

What does it mean when the SCS connector IS NOT jumped, the ABS light comes on and goes off as normal, but when it IS JUMPED it flashes a code. I thought for a code to exist, the light is illuminated all the time (that way you can tell there is something wrong without jumping the SCS)?

The reason i ask is because i wanted to try and jump the SCS connector just to see if i was doing it right and noticed the ABS light started flashing, and was a bit shocked as the ABS light hadnt come on to say there is a problem.

It is code 81 which = CPU.

Thanks

It stores the code, so it must have illuminated at some point. Clear the codes and see if it resets. Does the ABS work?

The ABS computer may just be bad. IIRC, the ABS computer is the only ITR specific part for 98-01 Integras.

Yea it works...i think. I slammed on the brakes the other night, the tires screeched a little bit, but then the front wheels started shuddering, and i also heard a clacking noise coming from the middle front of the car.

Can i clear the codes by just unplugging the ABS Fuses for a period of time?

Worst case, if ABS ECU is rooted, how much is a replacement?

I think the 7.5A underhood fuse will clear the ABS and ECU. I do not know what it would cost. The part is ITR specific. Perhaps you could find one in a part out?

ITRs are not common from where i am from so i may just ebay. Im going to get a mechanic to check the ABS properly to see if it is working.

Since the light isnt staying on, does that mean someone in the past has reset the ABS light?

Any time the battery is pulled, it is reset. I'm not 100% certain of what the code means. I don't have a manual handy.

abs is pretty easy to test. get it up to 50mph and pound the brakes. if you feel the pulse the system is working. if you can lock it up it isn't. not 100% sure about the R but in most cars any abs light will turn the system off reverting you back to standard brakes.
