You'll need to go with at least a 250 syncro from Miller, but I would recommend the 350 for 1/2" alum work. My 250 can do short bursts of 1/2", but I either trip the 100 amp breaker or the machine cuts off with the internal regulator. You'll need a watercooler/torch set-up as well. Cyberweld.com has free shipping and lowest pricing I have seen on Miller products, I have bought several welders from there with no issues. Great post purchase customer service as well.

At least a syncrowave 250, but would recommend a 350manifold if you can swing it. We have a 350sweet and I love it!

Note: ours is 3 phase 480v. You'll probably need more then 220v single to do 1/2" aluminum depending on how big the piece is and how many passes you want to make.

very nice choice! i have used that welder and love how it welds. so easy to use once its set up. i never did alum on it but the guy that owns it welds alum all day long on single phase 220. trips the breaker if ac and air comp are running if he welds think alum but other than that thing welds alum awsome.
