prelude v-tech in an accord... help!
i have to replace the timing belt and i need to know where to look to indentify exactly what engine i have... it has H22A stamped on the block, but no numbers after...
then you have an H22A

Typically, the H22a is JDM and has 200hp with a 10.6:1 compression ratio. What this means for you is 91 octane gas.
Buy the same belt as the USDM H22A1, or a 93-96 Prelude VTEC.

Just a little extra food for thought - the H22a isn't specifically a "Prelude" engine. It was also used in Accords.
If you ever get curious enough and want to know exactly which car the motor was originally from - PM Kronn and he'll be able to tell you.

i love this car! one thing it is doing though, is when i am in neutral slowing down, the engine revs a little high until i come to a complete stop... it doesnt rev really high, just around 1600 or so, is this normal?
This can possibly help to determine if the brake booster contributes to the high idle.??... I am no pro, but you didn't mention if you are actually braking and I believe braking will affect idle very slightly under normal circumstances. Under ab-normal circumstances, braking will likely cause a more noticable change in idle (I assume...not a pro mechanic).

braking doesnt seem to affect it, it stops and goes back to normal idle when i have come to a stop, and while sitting with the brake on, it idles normally... maybe the high idle is just more noticeable because of the exhaust?
i have the same problem with my h22... to the T. but now my bigger delima is i was coming home from work today, jumped on it in first, threw it in second, or so i thought... dropped the clutch and dumped the gas to her... instantly grabbed the clutch again, regained second gear ran it out to 7700 thought i herd something over my radio coming from under the hood... sure enough it is making a chattering sound coming down in the rpms as well as when on the gas. i was two miles from home, pulled in opened the hood and pulled a wire to diagnose which cylinder i screwed nd the motor died........... now it won't even start. NEED HELP! NEED HELP! NEED HELP! i know i did serious damage but the no spark has me baffled. timing belt is in tack just had valves adjusted new timing belt, oil and water pump cap wires rotor plugs all the reg mat. i am lost on th no spark issue after i pulled a wire off the cap. 1993 h22A jdm
It does if you have it in gear, or if you have it in gear and the clutch is pushed to the floor BUT your clutch pressure is too low to disengage the gear. However if this is the case, you will be able to start the car in 1st gear with the clutch pushed to the floor and you will likely see your car starting to move forward despite being clutched.

Drain your oil and drop your oil pan and look for metal shavings to see if you have spun a bearing.
Check your coil to see if it looks burned up? If you have the money, try to swap in a junkyard dizzy/coil to see if you get spark back. (my prelude is notorious for burning up external ignitor coils.
Just for a goof, you can pull out a spark plug and try cranking it to make sure you aren't squirting coolant out of your combustion area (means a bad headgasket). Nothing really makes me think this is an issue, but it will keep a car from starting.
