97 Civic EX won't start -- what could it be?
I recently got my d16y8 on a 1997 civic ex, mileage 45k.
I picked it up from the shop , turned on and started with out a problem. Ran great felt great and sounded really quiet . No roughness or anything. Later that day my car suddenly turned off while I was driving but quickly turned back on with out turning the key and just holding the gas pedal . Quickly pulled into a parking lot nd checked to see if everything was alright . Seemed pretty good , I turned it back on and it had a rough idle at 0 . It would stay on for a while but then just die . Drove it home reving it on each stop so it wouldnt shut off on me. Today I changed the spark plugs and they're new ignition wires . I tried turning it on and it only cranks nd turns over , and smell gas. Could it be the distributor or what else could it be ? Help please .

I haven't ran codes since my car doesn't turn on nomore and I just got my swap yesterday.
What do you mean listen to the fuel pump priming?

I haven't verify spark since I had to do things but I'm thinkin of checking the distributor right at this moment.
Called a friend and told me the reason my car prolly turned on was because I popped the clutch , but I only popped the clutch the first time and it turned there was a second time where I just held the gas paddle on second gear while turning and it quicly just turned on automatically.
I haven't ran codes since my car doesn't turn on nomore and I just got my swap yesterday.

To pull CEL's the car just needs to be in the accessory stage..it doesn't have to be running. *theres pages on how to "jump" the connector -- then the light blinks, you count them, get a number...and then check what it is.
To listen for the fuel pump priming--- turn the key to 1 position --- and listen, youll hear a sound. Its hard to describe the sound ---however youll either hear something, or it'll be dead silent. Hope for the first

Just ran the codes and I got one fast blink , that should be the o2 sensor but could that cause my car to not start ?
& thanks , yes I did hear something when I turned the key so the fuel pump is priming lol
About the clutch I meant it as I popped the clutch pedal out because I had it pressed all the way in , so I popped it out and I guess that's how my car started right back up while I was driving .
