rice or nice...painted/powdercoated calipers
I have been building up the suspention/brakes on my 95 civic this past winter and came across these calipers at a local parts supplier. I get a pretty good discount through some connections and when everything was said an done I was able to get these for the same price as the bare replacements. Obviously I opted for the red ones.
These calipers combined wth my bronze 6UL's should go together nicely. I personally like the look just thought i'd get some other opinions on the topic.

The brakes are simply a powdercoated stock replacement. I did a drum to disc conversion on the rear which is what you see above ^^^
I'll put up some better pictures when I get a chance, snapped this one late last night. (sorry for the poor quality). The fronts will be a while before there on, been waiting on a set of coils from AMR before I assemble the front so it may be a minute.
Let me know what you think...pictures of your set up?...

imho the only acceptable colors for STOCK replacement are black or silver. Leave the flashy blue, red, yellow and greens for the real brake companies.
i appreciate all the feeback, the stock calipers are somewhat tiny looking haha, eventually i plan on upgrading the calipers front and rear but thats not happening anytime soon (damn bills/life getting in the way
). I was planning on ordering the black calipers originally but they only listed having the fronts available, so I decided on the red's all around. Curious to see if the local scca group tears me up about them this coming summer.

Here's my s2k setup:

I've considered painting them black next go around, but I kind of like it. My recaros are red, if that helps.
Is it weird to not want to paint the rear ones red? For some reason I think red on all 4 would look dumb. I'm going to paint the rears black.

Here's 949's version of "bronze", i feel there more of a platinum or gun metal, still like them though.
I somewhat disagree with with all four red being dumb, mainly because thats what i'm going to be doing haha, but also because it just seemed more balanced to me to have all four the same. To each his own imo
For awhile I toyed with the idea of doing each caliper a different color. Decided against it mainly due to laziness, and also stumbling across the powdercoated ones. I sell paint and had some crazy colors in mind, the reactions would of be funny to me.

Eh, most autocross guys dont really care about trivial little things like brake caliper color. Most of us are just happy to see another enthusiast putting their car to good use.
that's good to know. Was hoping to run in my first event at the end of march. depending on when my coils come, either way I'll be attending to get a feel for things. pretty excited, new to the SCCA scene.
I think it depends on the color scheme of the car really.
Red stock calipers on a red car? RICE.
Red stock calipers on a black car with silver/black wheels? Not AS bad...
Can't go wrong with black/silver/dark bronze though. So if other folks' opinions matter to you, why risk it? Lol.

Personally I like to hide the brakes. I always paint mine black. Depending on the brand some are glossier than others but as long as it's black its ok.
If I could find a spray paint that could recreate the look of the OEM zinc coating I would be all over that. I've tried a few "light gold" paints and they just aren't the same.
Silver with a misting of light gold to try and get the OEM effect...

I did my wife's calipers with flat silver to look just like OEM.

Did you paint the black on your rotor also, or buy them that way? Centrics maybe? I've thought about doing that also to try an stop rust. Looks good.
I put a nice thick coat of high heat flat black on the TSX rotors and painted the "hats" of my rotors with gunmetal engine paint on the Civic.
I'm sticking for the aluminum color for now. I was thinking of painting them gold but I'm not sure.
Either way, OP, who really cares. People won't care what color you paint your brakes when they work nicely and youre leaving them in the dust at your next track event
