2013 Civic Rumors

We all read the stories already. If not, the link is above.
Any rumors on what the 2013 Civic will be like? We know it will be the same (2012) car with a new face, better plastic, and some suspension tunning.
So far, all that's been floating around the web is the front end of the Euro version.

Same 'ol boring Accord-wannabe styling with the same 'ol boring tuner-UNfriendly engine. Somehow it feels like Honda is slipping in their popularity and companies that were once vastly inferior like Hyundai and Kia are quickly gaining popularity.
My '06 Si will probably be the last Honda I will own unless something changes drastically with them......including their lousy "customer service".

We should see the first set of redigned 9thGen's by August.
As for Hyundai's and Kia's, ...sorry but as much as I like the "look", that's all it is. Like Ford's and GM's, it's all about the initial quality. The plastics may look like the fit now, but the thinner gauges they use will not stand up to the interior temperatures found in many State's during the warmer months. Also, one example of Honda not cheaping out on material used, ..look under the hood. Look at that frame in the top portion of the engine bay near the radiator. It's a box frame. Now look under the hood of almost every manufacturer, ..including Toyota's. You'll find a stamped steel shaped to look like a box frame. This is why with the stricter crash test ratings, the Honda Accord was the only one to score all those 5-Star ratings. ACE Body Structure, ...it's found in all Honda's, ...Hyundai's, Kia's, Chevy's, Ford's, Toyota's, etc, ...you won't find that. Honda is the only company to have CEO's from the Engineering Department, ...all other's are financers, ...even Ferrari's CEO, ...he's an Accountant. When you have an Engineer running a car manufacturer, he/she won't cut engineering to make a buck.

When I bought my 2012 si I thought after a little bit of time I would like it better, but as I continued to drive it I hated it more.
Maybe for me it's that I don't have to keep a car if I don't like it, or I just don't like the new civics as much as I liked the older gen 8 cars.

connect a USB drive to the port in the center console...the picture file has to be smaller than 3mb for the car to be able to use it...i have found that a picture taken from a camera phone usually is 2.7mb and still has good resolution...also the make sure the picture you want to upload is not in any subfolders...give that a shot..good luck

I still consider Honda to be the bench mark in the affordable cars catagory. It's just that they seem to flatlined while other manufacturers have vastly improved. But when you're on the top, there's no where but down or flatline, ...and to stay affordable, it's gonna flatline.
you may or may not know but Honda has released the 2012 Civic Si with a HFP package this spring..it debuted at SEMA if you search for pictures.. includes 18 inch alloys, sport suspension with 15mm drop ..aero package... and badging..bit of an upgrade..no additional power adders though..only comes in black and white as far as I know but that may change
I doubt the U.S. version will look anything like the Euro version. It hasn't in the past, and I don't see why they'd do it now.
Anything would look better than what the '12 looks like. Looking forward to seeing some pics!

So IF the USDM 2013 Civic was to have the Euro front end, will that do it for you?
I have owned my 2012 civic for almost a year. I consider it a capable performer in its class. Most critical comments seem to come from people who have not owned one. I also prefer the current look of our domestic model to the euro model.
It's the market and people believing what the reviews say. Problem is that Honda has remained the benchmark as everyone (eg Hyundai) has gotten better. So as these garbage companies start rising to be almost competitive, these reviewers expect benchmark companies like Honda to also get better. Hard to do so when you're already at the top. Still though, get behind the wheel of both manufacturers, and you'll see the things like thinner gauge plastics on the Hyundai's as compared to Honda's. Quirky engines in the Hyundai's (I believe they still contract Mitsubishi) compared to the bullet proof and proven engines in the Honda's. Let's not talk about brake fade that's always existed in the Hyundai's, ...scary when you're coming off the freeway and needing to come to an immediate stop. Ergonomics is still horrible in the Hyundai's, ...Honda's always had a great interior layout. Speaking of ergonomics, that great looking faēade of an exterior just doesn't work when you're inside the car and looking out! Major blind spots! I can't imagine al these short Asian chicks driving them and how they feel if I have a hard time seeing out back. See these reviewers praise the looks of the car, but these usually tall (so they can test if the interior is big enough) reporters don't think about the inside ergonomics, ...and you spend 99% of the time inside the car rather outside admiring the looks. Whoops, .../rant
The car I had before my 06 Civic Si was a 2008 Hyundai Accent. Say what you will about Hyundai and Kia, but they are clearly moving up in the world. The Accent was a great car and it kind of felt more like a Civic than the current ones do... It had that 90s tuner feel to it (just no aftermarket support... yet) If Honda doesn't fix their new Civic Si, they are in for some serious problems.
I never stated that Hyundai/Kai was bad. In fact I mentioned how well they've improved. That's just it though, in relation to their improvement, Honda didn't improve much, ...but it's pretty hard to improve when you're already the benchmark and keeping prices affordable. Take the 8thGen LX Sedan versus the 9thGen LX Sedan (the bulk of the sales), and you'll see that for $200 differences in MSRP's, Honda added a whole lot of stuff.
As for the 90's, you're right. Hyundai/Kia is exactly where Honda was in the 90's, ...plus the standard Federal Safety crap.

Despite all the critics, the 2012 civic still retains its title of best seller in the category; there must be something there! All is in the perception. So I say: don't change the current one so much as some people like it, it seems, AND bring in the Euro Civic here to please & shut the critics. The car is already on Honda's shelves - just a few mods to get to the US standards, a little boat ride, and voilą! And with the new 1.6 Diesel, That would be a real dream - the Earth Dreams technology as they call it.
The Euro Civic, let's call it the Civic5 for here, is effectively a different car, a different style, for a different crowd - not everyone will like it. It's shorter, while wider and more spacious than our civic (plus a cavernous trunk and its rear "magic" seats), and it's a 5-door hatchback. It is definitively different and that is why we should have both cars. Actually, it is pretty well the same size than the 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT and the new VW Golf 5-door MK7, both coming up this summer & fall; so that would give them some competition. You have to drive it and feel it's dynamics; I did while in France last month and it's quite a joy to ride (except with their 1.4 l base engine, which we don't have here).
