Default My near barnyard Type R find

I just got her last week, she has been sitting for about 2-3 years outside in the sun baking. The paint has faded and there are some dents and dings but she is in running condition with 94k. The interior is mint which is a plus. She has a jdm front end conversion done and some minor bolt on. I found this one on craiglist, it had some wiring issue that prevent it from running properly so it was sold to me cheap and plus the paint was all faded. I couldn't believe that it was a type-r because I don't remember the last time I have seen one around where I lived. So I made a lowball offer and we haggle back in forth for a few days, he call me back and said 4.5k. I was like hell yeah, deal! We met up and sign the paperwork, I ran the carfax and it was clean. She got some minor problem because she has been sitting for so long but nothing an Acura mechanic can't fix. Seem like it had a vafc or something that was removed and whoever wired it back didn't know what they were doing so it never ran properly. I'd just put new plugs, wires, valve cover gaskets, grommets and new spark plug cover. She will be put back to stock. Should I repainted it the original black or the championship white? I took these pictures after It has been wash, vacumn and pressure wash engine bay. I don't know why it has a pre-98 rear bumper on it but it will be toss in favor of the original that came on the car. Badge 00-1524

My old Honda before I gave up on messing with modded cars.

That is what I would most likely because I want it to be all original.

I am an Ase Acura mechanic and would not buy it if I didn't check everything out to make sure it all original and not stolen. Car fax was ran before purchase and everything came out clean except some minor fender bender accident reported.

Yep, just the longblock. Maybe he blew the old one up or just want the extra power of the jdm motor. Its a shame that it didn't have the jdm itr header. It will be getting a refresh of everything, new valve cover, oil pan(has a dent) all gaskets and seals, timing belt water pump etc.

Good find. Before painting it, I'd try a paint restoration kit. You'd be suprised what a good clay and wax would do. Several companies make them now and I've seen some really good before/afters. Good luck getting her running!

I've already ask my friend at the body shop, the paint is too far gone and there are small rust spot on the hood and fenders. Trust me I would never consider repainting a Type R unless it is absolutely necessary.

Updates: I finally got the car repainted. 3k professional paint job. All moldings, both qtr glass was pull out and replaced, new taillights seals, headlight re-polish and clear coated, 3 coats of clear and she is beautiful like a Type-r should be. Now I am giving the motor and transmission a refresh. All syncros, bearings, seals will be replaced with new oem components, new oem clutch will be installed, all new gaskets and seals for the engine including head gasket. New oil pan will top it off.

Will update as progress go to restore her back to showroom condition.
