DC5R coming?
after i searched like a **** for topics about it, i decided just to ask...
i've seen varying opinions on whether or not it is coming to america, some say it will be early 2003, some say by 2004, and some say not at all. I was wondering if it is, or not and if you could add where you got the info from that would be nice. my friend is obsessed with the RSX and more over, the new Type-r.
i,myself, was thinking that it would be over, but they would call it the RSX-R or something of that nature, to prevent putting "Type-R" on the RSX nameplate.
i also figured that if it came it would be missing the studly recaros and probably a couple horsepower (ala DC2R).
any help would be appreciated.

The only way it ends up here is if it makes business sense for Honda to do it (The only reason we got a Type R at all is because the sales for the integra wern't doing as well as they wanted).
I think we'll see a CTR well before an RSX-R then. Civic sales could be better and the Si's are languishing on dealer lots. Also, if you read the latest C&D small car comparison, you'll remember the phrase "something you don't see very often from Honda....a loser."
That was in reference to the new Civic and how unimpressed the were with the new car. I bet we'll see a CTR here soon to band-aid the marque reputation.

LOL if CTR is here i believe 100% RSX-R will be here too.
u think honda is going to have a cheaper car with more HP than ACURA. if so then who the hell is going to buy RSX-S, it's gonna kill the market for RSX, so if CTR do come here then they have to bring 220hp RSX-R here.

actually i do think RSX-R will be here same time when CTR is here. just think about this RX8, WRX STi, EVO. 350z are here (some will be here soon) if Honda dont bring RSX-R and CTR how are they suppose to get bussiness, when all others have new sports car and honda stay with the **** box
The entire sports car market is flat. Those that are selling well are the big dollar, big engine cars (Z06, Cobra etc).
Margins on econobox sportscars are low. Insurance rates are high - potential market appeal is small (i.e. 18-35 y.o males with low average income)
Honda makes money on the Odyssey, MDX, Accord and Civic line. They already have a car in the niche that would be filled by the new Type R - which is the S2000.
It's not coming.
Subaru, Mazda, Mistsubishi do not have SUV's, Vans and sedans that sell as well as Honda's - they are trying to penetrate the market that is dominated by Toyota, Honda and the Big 3.
Nissan has no sports cars period (in the USDM market - sorry Skyline lovers) - the 350Z is an attempt to get back in there.

If I were a betting man, Id say the DC5-R is coming.
I hope they come...less attention to our cars...poor owners who will get their cars stolen though.
But then on the other hand I hope they don't. That the ITR will be more collectible.
