Default type r question

i have a 1998 honda civic hatch with a 96 integra type r motor. well the distibuter took a **** so the previous owner said he out a sohc dizzy on it.. is that even possible?? also will any dohc part fit it or just the type r.. any info will be helpful thanks

You need a DOHC VTEC B series distributor. I would assume OBD2. Try google searching for distributor king. They make great products and the prices are awesome.

Distributor King is out of business, and the last and only distributor I bought from them lasted less than 500 miles. OEM is the best way to go, even if it is used.

Wow. I had really good luck with distributor king. Sucks they went out of business.

As mentioned, only a B-series VTEC dizzy will work.

I too have heard many bad things about Dizzy king. Used OEM is what I'd start looking for, but before that, given what you were told I'd try a few other things first like coil/ignitor/cap/rotor before plunging for the whole thing.

Also, in the aftermarket world, Dorman makes decent stuff as does Beck Arnley if you don't go the OEM route.

id like to go oem route, but hondas priced for a type r dizzy is 435 bucks... ill call tommorrow and se about a gsr or b16 and see about the prices. im having to overhaul the whole car anyways so i might as well put the whole sytem on it..

thank you for the info guys, i know its not any integra type r but i thought it'd be best to post my question in this sub forum.
