Any info about the above title would be awesome. The car is a 1987 CRX Si. I know it would have been better to have a 90-91 but this is what's here now. I am looking for parts interchangability between thing car and others that might be of benefit to me. Are there any motors that are bette that will swap in without crazy custom mounts etc.? Can I swap a 1.6 or 1.5 16 valve sohc non vtec head onto this engine? Also, can the later model suspensions etc. from the 90-91 CRX be fitted to the 87? (wanna lose the torsion bar setup) Thanks for your time and info in advance.

 

You'll want to search the forums before asking questions, most things have been answered. If you can't find it, we'll answer it.
There are mount kits to put B-series motors into 1st gen CRXs, although some fabrication will be needed. A B16 (1.6L DOHC VTEC, 160hp) would be the most logical if you want a powerful motor.
Later model suspensions cannot be added (or I've never heard of it being done). However, you can lower your car with a 17mm wrench . Torsion bars from Civic Wagons are thicker~~>stiffer, if you plan on racing (auto-x or road racing). Parts for your car are out there, just a bit more difficult to find than the 2nd gen CRXs (88-91).

 

I did some looking around on this topic and saw a post where someone put a 1989 Teg motor into the 87 crx. Anyone know what would be involved in this swap?

 

ull need teh mounts from both cars teh ecu from a 86-87 teg and the motor from a 86-87 teg making it much easier...also the map sensor box thing its not alot of work but involoves cutting **** not many people here can help as u saw above or he would have gave u something without posts of people asking questions teh search function wont work duhhhh... http://www.redpepperracing.com/forum...41688c351dffff go here this will do u more help than searching here
