Icon6 97 Ex: No ISO mounting points for the radio? **PICS**

97 Ex

The car came with an old Sony CD player and it was all half assed. It wasnt mounted and they taped the red and yellow cables together lol.

I took the console apart and saw no mounting holes for the radio. My 99 Civic has them and I bolted the radio to the mounting points so it doesnt move and to help against theft.
How would I do this on the Accord? I see a few aftermarket kits but which have the holes to mount the CD player?

If you could link me to the kit you are currently using that would be great!

Took out the seat for better clearance. Is that chocolate milk? lol

So much change!!

Quality install! No wonder the they pulled the radio fuse, the red and yellow are connected together. SMH.

Ill get you pics in the morning. But its not even squished, it be nice if it was. All they did was remove OE radio and like, left this one there if that makes sense.

Ordering the kit from Amazon or eBay right now.

ah, none needed...

i remembered the 95's console & that opening is "tight"

they probably just "rammed it" into the hole without securing it to the back with at least a metal strap

some of those aftermarket kits came with it & it was up to the DIYer to either use it or not

the original unit was just held down with 2 screws just below the radio storage pocket anyways...

Yeah I saw that, I was kinda bummed out. I was hoping for 4 screws on the sides to mount the radio. Having my double DIN like that helped against the theft attempt in 2008 and never popped out when I was boosted haha.

Can you source a dash kit or is it an exact single din?

When you get a new radio, you typically get a cage there are multiple tabs that can bend up and out to secure it the din or dash kits opening. You will need to rewire it correctly, I assume they cut the factory plug?

No its a double DIN. Im getting a kit for a single DIN with the little pocket.
Yeah I see that, I got a kit for my Civic and it worked perfectly.

HAHA Surprisingly, they DIDNT cut the factory plug! Judging by how half assed the install was, I knew it would be cut but luckily no, they used a harness. I swapped radios with my Civic and wired it up correctly, now it saves the presets and sounds good. They also taped together all the speaker wires so it was running as a single channel lol.
