Any ideas why the dome light will not come on when I open the door? It works when I move the switch to the ON position but will not turn on when a door is opened when the switch is in the middle position. Also, the courtesy light on the rear passenger door will not work either.

 

Does the dash board display light up for each of the doors when they are opened? If they all work, then the door switches are good. Check the bulb for that rear passenger door.

You could try checking if current is getting to the switch when the door is open, with a volt meter.

 

Have you tried the other doors to see if they trigger it? Say if it is just the driver's door chances are the switch in the jam is bad.

 

you'll just have to open the cover and inspect the bulb! if it's good or you have no idea, try this:

switch the bulbs withe the rear driver side courtesy light & see if that bulb lights up when you open that rear passenger door again... to rule out a bulb problem.

 

I've already swapped new bulbs and even led's for both the dome and the door.

The dome light will not come on no matter what door is open. The dash will let me know if a door is open but I dont think it will register/can tell if the rear passenger door is open. I will have to double check that.

 

By chance would you have an aftermarket alarm system?
