Icon2 2002 Accord AT low idle w/ vibration

Hi. I am new to this site and hoping that someone might be able to shed some light on my issue. I have a 2002 Honda Accord 4 cyl. with 216,000 miles. For about the past 9 months I have had an idle issue where when slowing down or at a stop my rpms will drop sometimes to 400 or 500 and cause my car to shake. Most of the time the rpms will slowly recover on their own, like while waiting at a light, but sometimes not. At first this would happen about once a month. In December, I had a friend of mine switch out my alternator, and since then the problem seems to be a little more frequent and also at random times I get the red lights on my dash to flicker at low rpms (i.e. the door ajar, brake light, battery light) I have checked the grounds and connections but this has not solved the issue. Last month I took my car to honda for a routine transmission service and asked them to do a diagnostic, but I do not have check engine light on and no codes came back. Anyone have any ideas??

I have a 2002 accord with a similar issue but is vibrating when idling. My transmission was just rebuilt as well as the front and back mounts replaced. The garage took another look at my car to check for anything loose or things touching that may be transferring a vibration. They couldn't determine anything, the only other possibility they offered is that between my care being old and with my new torque converter I am feeling the motor working more (as opposed to when there was more gaps and slipping with the old TC so things seemed smoother?!). The car seems to run fine and isn't doing anything else strange, it's only when I'm stopped at a red light that I really notice the vibrations (which sometimes can be felt in the seats). Is this a concern I need to pursue? Any suggestions?

Hello Jemma05,

Sorry, I am new to this forum so just saw this message but if you continue to have this problem you may want to try the following. I have had this happen in other vehicles & am beginning to have this occur in my 2002 Accord SE. What I have done in the past is to clean the throttle body with throttle body cleaner. It is a very simple job that may take you all of about 15-minutes. All you need is the throttle body cleaner spray & a toothbrush. On my car the throttle body sits back by the firewall on the passenger side. You will have to disconnect a couple hoses but very easy. If you need detailed instructions please let me know.
