Default Need Feedback; Reputable Engine Depots

Kk I'm posting for a buddy of mine, don't know if I'm posting in the wrong section but, title is pretty self-explanatory lol.
He's looking to order a new engine, but doesn't know whether to order from tiger-jap (( to which ive already said no, from past experince with my engine )), jdmenginedepot, hmotors, or any other trustworthy site... Any suggestions ?

We all know engines are a great investment, and no one likes wasting that much money lol.

pretty much. theres a few people on here that got theirs from another place but i can't remember where. why do we not have a reputable engine places to buy from sticky?

not that it wouldn't just be mostly HMO. still theres a few others that are decent and if you can drive to em it makes a few more better.

JDMSource.ca seems to be a great place as well.

Check this thread, scroll towards the bottom and read Adam's post near the pics of his new engine.

Good luck.

I will also personally vouch for JDM source. A friend of mine bought a GS-R swap from them 5 years and hasn't had any trouble with it.

I bought 2 good swaps from Osaka. A little salty but engines ran great! 30k plus on both of them with no issues.

HMO and JDMsource are definitely two great places to get swaps from. If you go with JDMSource tell him Adam sent you

Shouaib is super-cool to deal with on the phone. He's called me and emailed me several times of his own volition just to make sure I was happy with the process and to talk about swapped civics, etc.

The only other one I could recommend if neither of those work is Japan Star Motors. The one out of Albany, New York. Good customer service when I was trying to deal with them. Never ordered anything though.

I was actually talking to a guy today at a gas station that said he got his motor through osaka-- was pretty, ran nice and he had nothing but good to say about them. Was a b20 if that matters.

Personally though a good friend of mine had nothing but bad luck with Japan star out of albany. He was trying to get a motor from them (Because albany is like 2 hours north of us), and they would never email him back, he'd call, they wouldnt return his calls, he chased them around for 3 weeks, and then I got him to just order it from HMO. HMO took his call, and 20 mins later he was done, the next day the motor was on the way to his house.

We were trying to go to albany, to see the motor, and then just take it with us. I dont know what their operation is but like I said it was a run around for him (we just assumed that they didnt have the motor and were trying to stall to get it) The other thing I didnt like was they quote prices shipped- they wouldn't lower the price any for pickup. Thats a b.s. move on their part, I mean....free shipping, isnt free shipping...its shipping rolled into the price. I aint trying to bad mouth the place---just giving a heads up from my buddy's experience, personally Id rather deal with a trusted source.

Either way, HMO bent over backwards for him... he called, the guy went out and took pics (or so they claimed), let him decide, sent it next day, motor arrived a few days later, clean as a whistle, even had extra parts. The day after it arrived he got a call and they made sure he got what he wanted, was happy, yada yada yada.

Theres a reason EVERYTIME this question is asked (10x a week) the answer is HMO. (Hmo was cheaper as well...so icing on the cake)
