I was just cleaning up my EG, and noticed a speck of honda cancer (rust) on her quarter panel. Needles to say, I am devastated. Shes a 95, and shes made it this far *as a daily* in the northeast.

Anyhow, right now its about - half the size of a dime, all surface rust, nothing through.

I am no body man, so I need some advice, this is what I know about the rust removal process.

Sand down to bare metal
apply some form of rust inhibitor
prime
paint

That about right?

Anyone have any insight into POR15 or Rustbullet, etc? I want to fix it once, and not have to deal with it anymore for 10 years if possible. I looked up under the wheels and things and I dont see any more rust, however Im sure its behind the panel behind its such an old car that has been in the northeast its entire life.

My plan is to sand it down to bare metal this weekend, apply some form of rust inhibitor and then paint it up as to stop it, and anymore from developing.

i am pretty sure if you sand down the pust the por 15 will not fiill it enough to be even, you looking at using some type of body filler on top then primer then paint

 

If its metal it will rust

 

If you really want to stop to, sandblast the rust.

 

im basically have the same rust as you on my ek i plan to do pretty much the same thing once it warms up a little here
