Default TD Autowerkes & Friends bring you a HotRod Mustang with a twist!

After testing the RWD waters and loving it, we decided to try something we've always wanted to do. A Notch Foxbody Mustang........... With a 2JZ!

Joshs/NOS51 daily driven Supra was a walk in the park (8.28@165) compared to all the BS we need to do to get the Outlaw Ek to hook. So we picked up a tubbed Foxbody for a reasonable price and yanked the dinosaur motor out. My friend Diego that ive known since kindergarten (25 years) got the itch and gave the GREEN LIGHT on the shopping spree!!!

Setup will consist of

AEM V2
2jz
Carrillo Rods
Cp pistons
Powerglide
E85
Gato intake manifold

and the rest you will see in pics...... Dont know what the goals are as of yet but a 7 second pass is a MUST!

A 440+ CI 351 with a decent set of GV2 heads and a ton of boost, spending the same amount of money you are going to put into the 2JZ.... The big 351 would make a hell of a lot more power and take you down the track lot quicker/faster in that Fox Chassis. It will be interesting to see what a 2JZ can do in a Fox though.

Props for trying something different

I would assume with an expected 1000 WHP or so in race trim that some variation of a Ford 9 inch and a 4 link would find its way into the rear of that Fox. There are so many options out there for that chassis.

How big of turbo? Are you going with the same 280 cams from the supra build?

1000hp won't even put a dent in a 8.8 rear

Right, but its a drag car, not a RR car. It wouldn't make any sense to opt for an IRS 8.8 over a 4 link 9 inch. For a street car where feel and ride comfort are important factors, or for a RR car, the IRS is the way to go. Just not the best choice for a drag only car.

Anyone and almost everyone building RWD drag car. Tubs and back halfs usually go hand in hand with a 4 link set up, there are even bolt in 4 link kits for that chassis.

I'm not going to post anymore in this thread about this, it's taking the attention off of he focus of this thread. RWD drag cars run 4 links. Almost every single RWD drag car in any class above a street class that restricts tub sizing, rear end modifications, and or, suspension options. The worlds fastest drag cars run 4 links. I'm not trying to argue with you here. But I will say that you don't build a RWD drag car with an IRS. Thats one of the first things you toss. A 4 link is actually a drastic improvement over an IRS for a RWD drag car. I sounds as if you are looking at it as if it's old technology simply because it's common amongst the domestic crowd? I don't know. I guess I don't understand where you are coming from.

Do a quick google search and look for anything running 8's or quicker RWD. You'll notice that all of the cars that are dedicated drag cars all run 4 links, with the occasional running a ladder bar set up (ladder bars are pretty rare when you get into the 8's and quicker).

That's all I'm going to say about this. I apologize for participating in taking the thread off topic.

Who needs a 4 link when these cars are going in the 7's with "stock suspension" setups on 10.5's.

http://www.competitionengineering.co...s/chassis2.asp

Ladder bars are for RWD cars looking to gain some adjustability to improve the rear suspension while maintaining the use of leaf springs. A 4 link converts the rear suspension to an adjustable spring and shock set up.
