Default bent valves = new distributor???

if i bent some vales by over-revving do i automatically need a new distributor? i have a couple of friends that bent valves that way in their b16a1's and had to replace their dizzy and i was wondering if that was just a coincidence.
thanks

Ive never heard that, but I bent the valves in my Prelude over-reving and never changed the distributor...maybe thats why it started poorly every once in while..

I had the bushings go bad in my distrubitor a few months ago and the added slop caused it to catch on something inside the distrubitor and the intake cam skiped 10 teeth on the timing belt
Fortunately my engine (b16a) is stock. Stock cams, cam gears, bottom end, head gasket and had nothing milled off of the head or block other wise I could have kissed a pistion.
My intake cam was so far off that my car wouldint start.

If your distrubitor still spinns smoothly, the shaft doesnt have excessive slop and the spark is still strong. I dont see any reason to replace it.

If it sounds like marbles are jumbling around inside of it or 2 squirrels are fighting under your cars hood (like mine was lol) turn off your car and get a new one before you drive it again.
