antifreeze loss help
i have a 92 honda civic cx with a d15b7 from a 94 dx and my car is losing antifreeze somewhere i have no idea where... theres no leaks that i can see from the hoses and theres no leaks from the heater core the heater valve under the hood is brand new and theres no antifreeze in the oil.... the water pump is also brand new but everynow and then it smells like burning antifreeze when im driving pretty much when i take off from a dead stop ...... any ideas would be helpful thanks
Pull your plugs one at a time and inspect the condition of the plug. Also, try to shine a light down into the plug hole and into the combustion chamber. If the plug and piston top/chamber look brand new and shiny you have a small leak that is burning off. This would mean a blown headgasket. The other option is to sprinkle some clump cat liter (at least I like doing this) on the area where you park your car (make sure its inside a garage or closed space), park your car over it, and inspect the liter for fluid clumping next morning. You can also do this with a clean white piece of cardboard.
Another option, sounds like you have a small leak, is to put radiator dye in your radiator, run it for a few days, and then in a very dark room or garage use the special light and glasses to look for the leak. You can usually get that at autozone, etc. May need a couple of bottles for better results.
