caster adj. eg chassis
hey i was wondering if anyone has tried to oval out the mounting holes on the upper control arms of an eg chassis to get any caster adjustment, im just curious. to me there is no other way with my setup to adjust caster. thanks guys
If you're hell bent on doing this, Whiteline makes a caster kit for the car. It spaces the LCA halves to increase caster. Alternatively, the SPC camber adjusting UCAs allow caster adjustment as well. The 3rd option is to swap the UCAs from side to side, which produces around a +1.5* caster gain. The 2nd and 3rd options reduce suspension compression travel. All choices screw with bumpsteer.
I ran +4* of caster for several months (SPC UCAs swapped and adjusted to max). Turn in felt great, and the lack of tramlining on the freeway was awesome. However, hitting good sized bump only on one side nearly ripped the wheel from my hands as the car tried to steer, lap times increased compared to stock caster, and I now have dented shock towers from UCA contact from the reduced travel.
*edit: You can also shift the subframe that the LCAs mount to in order to change caster.
i just want to be able to adjust caster just a lil bit to get more fine tuning of my alignment there is nothing wrong with it im gonna look into the whiteline kit but im just curious and trying to improve my setup for next years autox season
