B18 into CRX
Hello everyone! I am new to these forums and haven't worked on cars in a good 5 years thanks to a family but let me get straight to the point. I am currently stationed in England and am going to buy a RHD CRX to bring back to the states. I would just buy one with a B16 engine already in it since that's what the vti model comes with stock but I need a 1989 model which are hard to come by.
Anyway, I found plenty with the DOHC ZC engine for cheap, less than $1500 and was wondering what it takes to put a B18 in them? I say B18 because there are Civic models with those engines and they are pretty damn common so finding one at the junk yard will be easy or should I just stick with the B16? Thanks.

Wel you see it all depends, the b16 obd0 swap is the easiest to put into this Ef chassis. B18s also know as either Ls integra motors or b18c which is a type r or gsr are a little more expensive and harder to put in, if your planning on staying the obd0 route then the b16 will do just fine but if you want better tunning options then the Ls or vtec b18 motors would be a better choice you really just need mounts and a shift linkage and with some wiring diagrams you should be good to go. There's plenty of aftermarket support for both types it all just takes time and money.
I'm sure someone makes swap mounts for the RHD crx, but I've never seen them. You should just find a B16 model, even if it is a little more. I'd look for a glasstop myself.
I've Googles information on dropping a b18 into a CRX and there's none in the UK. CRX Del Sol yes, but not an older generation.
I've seen a glasstop go for around 5500 pounds which is roughly $8600. Not worth it in the least bit. Also it's not the expense really that bothers me about a B16 CRX it's the year. I have to get a 1989 version which is the first year they came out so there aren't too many left on the road or no one is selling them.
