Default 89-91 gauge swap

Ok, the search function pwns me. Car is a 89 dx that I had a 89 si cluster in that worked fine, wanted to swap to a nicer 91 si cluster and nothing works except the speedo and the trunk open indicator light for the e brake and the hi beam indicator is constant on, with or without lights on at all... Anyone else experience this before? Solution suggestions? Thanks a lot in advance!

They are two different styles of cluster. The wiring doesnt match up. You're better off with the 88-89 style.

Yeah 88-89 work with 88-89 and 90-91 work with 90-91.

Crap that's what I was afraid of. Ok I'll go back to the 89 cluster then. Any suggestions on what paint to use to change my 89 cluster cover from blue to black to match the si dash I just put in? Lol
