2012 Civic Questions
Hey everyone,
I have a 2008 Honda Accord EX-L 4 Cyl and drive about 1200 miles a month, and of those 1200 miles about 1100 are highway miles, and I am usually going off traffic hours. I am averaging about 25miles a gal in the Accord, and in Feb alone have gone 886 miles while spending $193.87 in gas for 49.5 gals. Because of the every rising gas prices in CA, I am thinking about getting rid of the Accord because of all the driving I do and going to a Civic. But I cannot decide if I want to go with the Hybrid or the regular Civic. I know that the Hybrids get 44/44 and overall 44 mpg but can range from 36-52 for both city and highway depending on driving style and car care and yada yada. The regular Civic is 28/39/33.5 ratings and can get in the range of 23-33 city and 32-46 highway. What should I be expected to get with the ECON on and not having a heavy foot (which I do not) and being a good driver. I am usually never going over 70-72 on the freeway and am overall very good driver.
Thanks guys
SM
I found a Regular Civic for sale, a 2012, EX-L fully loaded for $22k...and I could probably get that for maybe around $21k or so if I am lucky. Which I think is a really great deal considering it would cost me about that same price (22k for a hybrid with nothing extra on it.)
Thanks again.

Don't buy a hybrid just to get a few more miles per gallon, the regular civic will get close if not the same mpg at a reduced cost to you.
The 2 new civics I have owned were an 04 ex auto coupe and a 07 lx 5 speed coupe.
The 04 automatic did 40 city 43 mpg highway, and the LX 5 speed did 40+ city and 39 highway.(the lower gearing of the 5 speed made it more fun to drive in town but cost the car mpg on the highway)
Why spend more for the car, and end up with approximately the same mpg.
