ATTENTION: ECHC Gurus! Please buy my ITR wreck!!!
Typing texts were never so painful before....
I was involved in an accident. The car lost control and spin into a guardrail on the passenger side. The body shop quoted $15,000 minimum to fix the car due to tilted unibody frame. Insurance totalled the car for me and I brought back the wreck.
I am in need of money to get another car and pay for all the expenses. I am ringing up this thread to seek an alternative.
I have too much emotional ties with #1180 that I really don't want to see her go.
A swap is possible, but I'll end up spending more. I simply don't want to see her young soul to be cut off so prematurely.
I want her heart and soul to roar down the road courses and ripping apexes as what she was meant to do.
That's why I am not posting this anywhere but here. If someone else has to take my car, I want my car to be in possession of a hardcore road racer that can use her properly.
Here are the conditions of the car:
Engine: 21k mi, always treated with Red-Line 5w30 every 2000mi, engine able to start after the collision
Engine Bay: Visually, Radiator/fans had to be replace.
Tranny: Changed with MTF every 10,000mi
Clutch: Strong. Bounce back more and has a higher engagement point than most other ITRs I've driven.
Suspension: The axles of front and rear passenger side seems bad, unsure about the LCA arms and other linkages.
Brake: Everything seems proper, with new Autozone Rotors up front.
Interior: Everything intact, including windows..etc. Driver seat tilted to absorb impact.
Body: Damage to the hood, front fenders, passenger side door, rear passenger panels, rear bumper. Both front end and rear pushed to the right.
For those who has access to frame correction tools, maybe you can build her right again!
Here are the pictures. I can take more of specific angles upon demand.
http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4291268505
Asking price is $4000 OBO. Buyer must come up to NJ to tow it back on a flatbed.
For now, only ECHC racers are considered as potential buyers...and my simple requirement for buying my car is : The car itself, fixed or swapped, must be used for road racing, and my console where the # badge is must be inside the fixed/swapped car.
There will be some parts that will be taken out:
- oem wheels with S03 tires ( will put on some generics)
- aftermarket spark plugs, plug wires. ( will give back stock upon request)
- aftermarket stereo/speakers (will give back stock upon request)
- braided Brake lines (will give back stock upon request)
- Comptech Icebox (will give back stock upon request)
- V-AFC
- Rear Passenger seats.
- Possibly the spoiler if buyer decide to swap.
I know some of you have tight budgets toward the end of the season. Payments with no interests will be considered.
P.S. For those who wants to see the video of the crash to get an idea of how the impact occured. Please im me privately.

The busted up frame, depending on how bad it really is, might make this car impossible to reasonably straighten out for racing. If the quote is $15K, I'm guessing it's tweaked pretty bad. Maybe someone with more knowledge and better connections than I could get it straightened for a more reasonable price.
If the motor, tranny, suspension, brakes, etc. are all fine, it easily sounds like a good start for a hybrid.
I see you're an instructor. Was this an on-track incident?
Just wondering about the insurance situation if it indeed happened on track.

I am not an instructor. Just quoting my instructor the lines he said to me the very session I had the accident.
Hybrid sounds good...but I don't like hassles. Like I said b4, it's an alternative choice, all depends on how things turn out.
For insurace:
HPDE = Driver's school to learn how to control the car,
Race Track = A facility with a collection of pavements.
Never mention the word "Race" "Performance" "Speed testing"...etc.

Wow. It's really not nearly as much as they say if you just wanna get it back up and running.
My front 2 frame rails have seen worse than that, and your frame doesn't look that tweaked. A slightly twisted frame can be yanked straight pretty easily. It's when it's crushed or kinked when it's a real problem.
Umm, jesus, if I had the extra bucks, I'd turn that into a fixed up race car. These are the kind of cars that ratty racers dream of.

I understand your feelings for the car, but your best bet might be to take out the drivetrain and sell it to a hybrid project. That rear end looks pretty mangled. What is the rear pass. wheel doing? Is it all bent out of shape? I was rear ended in that quarter and ended up with about 15 deg of negative camber. That wasn't good. It is very difficult to get it right again, esp. if the frame is tweaked. I know someone who might be interested in the drive train. Will put you in touch if you want.

I don't mind if more than one person want a share of the car. But as long as the parts are used for road racing purposes. (must show proof, like roasters on ECHC, or SCCA license...etc)

I tell you what - anyone who is building an H1 car should strongly consider this. You can't get the engine swap for $4,000.00 let alone the entire car (a good bit of which is salvagable). If my situation were different I would sell my B18C1 swap and buy this but right now it is not feasible.
I also feel for neo. He and I have had words with each other back in the days of the old Kills but over time I have grown a respect for his love of this car and racing in general. I too would like to see his requests met. His price is EXTREMELY reasonable and I think it would be a great gesture to run the # plate in the car. Having that number there may not mean much to you but it will mean a whole helluva lot to a guy in NJ!
One of you ECHC guys need this . . . Gray! This has your name ALL the hell over it bro!

Man, I am really sorry to hear about your car. That sucks to see your sweat and blood get taken away so fast. I feel for you.
I have sent you an e-mail telling you some things about me and my interest in the car. If you could please reply to it or message me on AIM: Ben075 so we can talk, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Dude, that rear end is fine. Just a little yank on a frame machine and it's all good. Just beat out the side with a few hammers. Probably needs a new rear lca, definately needs new wheel bearings, and maybe hubs. That's what my car used to look like, only I had a slightly harder hit in front. My radiator used to sit up against the engine...
All in all, light damage. Perfect race car material.
I REALLY shouldn't be thinking about this...

If you don't mind my saying so, I could make good use of your front seats since I soon intend to take mine to an upholsterer (sp) to have the lower seat cushions slotted for sub-belts.
Thanks, and good luck with the car. Ed

Driver seat tilted to absorb the impact. Not usable anymore
Yeh, Warren, buy it. 0 Down 0 Interest until 2003...
(I sound like a Mitsubishit saleman)
And thanks guys for the support and understanding through replying and IMs.

Which turn did that happen in? Looks like a 180+ at the bottom of 10 into the outside tire wall . . .
Just curious
Just curious
Exactly one lap before. A Camaro went off bringing up a massive dirt cloud that covered up turn 2 and 3...I don't know, but at least I have something to blame

btw - the driver's seat is perfectly fixable. I've done it before
You remove all the metal rings and remove the covers. Get some old GSR seats (I got 2 fronts for $100). Remove those covers, and put these on. Where the stock one used the metal rings, just use UV resistant zip ties. Voila. Good as new.

From looking at the pics, it really doesn't look THAT bad. Similar to what happened to a freind of mine at TGP 2 years ago. Only his front end was MUCH worse.
A race body shop will be able to fix that no prob. You don't need a 100% straight frame to have a fast race car. Ask Warren (and 90% of the IT field).
Either way, good luck with it and I hope to see that car in H1 or H2 next year.

I really don't know the appropriate cost to fix the car.
The shop I went to, introduced to me by my instructor who felt guilty of my crush, is a former shop that fabricate race cars. The owner use to work for Ferrari. My instructor's 5.0 stang was mashed up against a concret wall and he restored it to new and runs perfectly in EMRA<?> Enduros.
The shop has a rack called the "Frame-O-meter" thing that restore the car to 100% factory specs. He showed me some cars that the bolts fit in perfectly at the center! He quoted at least $15,000 and more for undignosed damages.
The shop owner didn't treat me as a stranger. Normally, the shop would love to fix some $15,000 car, but he told me personally that if he was I, he wouldn't fix it himself.
If any of you can fix the car itself instead of swapping! That would bring joyful tears to my eyes.

Body shop guys are kinda like customer service people. You get some nice ones, you get some that really don't want to be bothered. Shop around. You probably need to preface your quote with "it doesn't have to be pretty." Get a couple of people with some sledge hammers to knock it pretty straight, and then take it to the rack for the little bit left. Small taps, lots of patience
All in all, the analogy of the IT racer brought up a good point. It doesn't have to be striaght.

if I had the dough, I would buy Bookler's car, and stick the drivetrain from neo's ITR in there. Someone needs to do this.
