help with turbo on 5th gen.....
It all depends on what you want man........ how much power you want, how reliable you want it, how much you want to spend.........if you really want to do this and you have at leat a couple thousand saved up, you can IM ( Crucox - AIM)me and I can give you a game plan to go off of.......I can get you deals on custom turbos, manifolds, IC piping, intercoolers, BOVs......or just help you plan what you want and the safest way to do it.....I have build a turbo 5th gen prelude before, it was running about 550hp on full boost of 25 psi......stock motor.....all tuning...so I can make it happen.....let me know

The only time we opened the engine up was to install a thicker head gasket......everything else on the long block was stock......
engine management and tuning is so so so important. not sure if that alone will get ya up to 25 psi safely, but that is so so so important to run anything. thats the first thing i would look at..
I need a deal on turbo manifold for a 96 h22
just the manifold thanks

I also agee. Even with proper tuning the stock rods cannot hold up to the stress of 25psi of pressure. Also take into consideration the material of which the stock rods and pistons are made of.....not very stress friendly. Check out the turbo forum on preludeonline.com, there are many discussions on the H22s (even closed-deck A1's) not holding up to more than 8psi very long. The material just isn't strong enough, but....do as you will.

glad to see i aint the only one who thinks 25 psi on a stock H22 is pure lunacy... lol

i really don't know how u ran 25psi but i sure don't want to...and yes i do go to church EVERY sunday but i dun't know for some reason i don't think going to church will help on this one...and no i can't get a Greddy turbo kit cuss my prelude is a Type SH...
oh and wat do u guys think about F-Max turbo? or should i customize it? thanks...

This is what I just posted in another topic.....
I'm not BSing you.....he just kept increasing the boost until the wastegate was maxed out.....I haven't talked to the guy in quite while....but I was in it once when it ran at 25 psi (he previously ran it at 13 psi, then at about 18).....and when I talked to him a couple months later....he said he was barely driving it and it was running like ****.....I never said it lasted a long time.....
oh yea...and it's a closed deck block, with a t304 ball bearing
I know it shouldn't have worked...but it did......wednesday motor I guess....

(of course my plan wont call for 25 psi on stock internals.. maybe 20 psi after building the motor from the basement up..)
Hey lordvtec.....I said I built it.....but it was his....and he was the one that kept increasing the boost.....and no, no backpedaling....just clarifying
two words: Kaa Boom. lol
....i have the fmax kit....it's alright but i change some parts on it....i got rid of the MF2 and 2 additional injectors, the MSD BTM, the t3/t4b turbo, and closed loop WG....i have since gotten AEM EMS, RC 440's, t3/t4e-60 trim, and open loop WG....if i would do it again, i would either get a custom kit or the Max-Rev since the Max-Rev, you can design how you want the IC piping....with the fmax manifold, i had to put an extension plate (T3 turbine flange), SPAL slimline fans, and longer studs to clear the front motor mount for the larger turbo[Modified by Quaalude, 11:18 AM 10/11/2002]

I don't know how he ran it at 13 psi for a long time......which is past 12 psi....with no mechanical problems.....I don't know hoe he ran it at 18 psi without blowing it up...but when he said he wanted to run at that psi.....I knew it was going to take a lot of fuel if it would work and upgraded his fuels system.....it lasted.....then he turned it up to 25 psi.....I figured it would blow appart...but stil increased his fuel to match the airflow.....I wouldn't beleive it if I hadn't seen it for myself......I doubt it still runs.....but I have no idea...I am trying to say I am not lying to you......it was just a fast ******* car.....which ran with the boost guage saying 25 psi
