Default HELP ASAP: fitment stock mr2 mesh on 96 civic

Alright, i have a 96 civic and i need help on fitting a set of mr2 mesh rims on my car. they don't fit correctly since the center bore of the mesh are 2 inches in diameter and i need approximately 2.2 inches.
on one of the rims, my friend and i just shaved some lengths off of the edge to make it fit. I heard that doing that weakens the rims (obviously) but is it bad and will it affect it by a big percentage?

edit: is it possible just to bore out the center hub with just a sanding bit?

just get wheels that fit. the centerbore is a precise measurement that should fit snug on the hub

i honestly think its safe. the wheel is never gonna be pushed to such extremes as to make those faults become a problem
