I read the other thread to solutions on a hard shifting transmission. One guy insisted that its not THAT big a deal and if you can deal with the hard shifting then you auto will be alright until it dead. My question is how long will a hard shifting auto transmission last (in years)? I need at least five years out of her. Should I swap or what?

 

well it's gonna depend on a couple of factors, I have a 97 also with an auto and had to replace the tranny bout 20k ago when it was at 180k.Lol i wrecked it today but the tranny i got was starting to slip and hard shift yatatata basically what im saying is aside from the guts of the tranny,driving habits and fluid level are gonna be your goals,i rod mine around town so no wonder mine messed up,just remember to use honda genuine fluid dont let it turn burnt black and keep ur foot out of it, does it have weird shift points? if so look at the tps

 

was the transmission fluid changed every 30k miles? was it changed when it showed signs of heat breakdown? was it driven responsibly? if yes to all those then it will last many hundreds of thousands of miles.
