Ok, So helped my buddy put a rebuilt 5spd. trans in his early '90's Accord. Put the trans in, new linkage and it feels like it won't shift all the way, and will not move. Clutch feels good still, good fluid in every thing. I'm thinking there's either something with the linkage connection or the slave cylinder. Any ideas which direction we should go with this? Getting sick of him borrowing my car, so any help is just awesome! Thanks.

 

Its touch to give you any solid advice without knowing a little more information about the rebuilt unit you installed.
Prior to installation did you manually operate the shift linkage and confirm the trans shifts through the gears?
Its always a good idea to spin the input shaft while doing this and watch the differential to make sure everything is operational.
If you did this then check your shift cables and make sure they aren't damaged, or binding on anything on their way to the transmission.
Pay close attention to where they cross the rear mount and bracket as this is a tight spot for the cables in our cars.
Will the trans shift into any of the gears?
Does the shifter completely bind firmly or feel like it's dragging?

 

Ok...a little more info. It shifts into first gear only. We ran it through all the gears and all is fine with the trans, as well as the linkages, no binding or anything. Unless we missed something, I feel like there's something else wrong. When you shift it into first it drives fine, however trying to shift into 2nd or any of the other gears it doesn't even move into the position. I'm thinking there's something stopping the shifter from moving into any position besides 1st, but like I said the linkage and trans seem fine. I guess well just have to check everything out again.
