Default dohc zc ecu

ok so im running a pr4 ecu in my ef hatch
its been kinda hesitating with power around 3000 rpms
ive been looking for a pm7 ecu or pm6

so i jus tried a pg7 from an older teggy and she wouldnt even start up
and same thing when i tried a pm5 ecu

i reset the ecu and everything before i started the car so idk why they each didnt start

I currently run a PG7 on my dohc zc and it runs it pretty good so idk why it wouldn't start for you. And I had previously ran a pm6 on it before I got the pm6 and it ran it alright too. Either one of those would run it better than a pr4 which is for a 1.8 L.

PM5 is a DPFI ECU, won't work on any MPFI setup.

PG7 will only work from 88-89 Teggy.

Yeah man the PM5 wont work but that PG7 should've....was the computer bad? Usually if the computer is fried the LED will just stay lite constantly.

IIRC the 88-89 PG7 doesn't have an LED, and the 86-87 PG7 doesn't either but the casing is different (it has crossed ribs instead of being flat) and it won't work due to not using electronic timing advance.

I'm assuming you got handed a 86-87 PG7, find an 88-89 PG7 or PM7 or chip the PR4 (all PR4's can be chipped, they are almost identical to the 90-91 PM6 inside).

Pics of the PG7 ECU would help ID if it is incorrect or not. Specifically the front case and the label.

the pg7 only cranked but never fired
is the firing order the same os the one for the pr4 or would it be different
and it does have the led light its on the side of the case and no it never lit up
i inspected before i put it in and everything looked really good
no burnt parts or anything

The PG7 does have an LED but its not in the same spot as a pm6 and you have to use one from an 88-89 integra as they make pg7's for 86-87 teg's that dont work. The LED should blink one time (to say hello when the key is turned) then go out.

Because on an 86-87 integra they came with vacuum advanced distributor and the 88-89 teg's had electronic advanced distributors like our ZC's (unless you have a brown top zc). I assume you have an 88-89 zc which you would need an 88-89 PG7. The 86-87 ecu will have this big X on it that's how you'll know.

Check to see what kind of pg7 you have because if you have the 86-87 ecu it won't matter how much you mess with the dizzy its not gona work. The firing order is the same but one uses electronic advance and the older one relize on vacuum readings which you wouldn't have on your 89.

I always wondered how the old brown tops would run on a PM7....(I know we're talking about a PG7 but I'm just refering to the best ecu for the ZC the JDM PM7). It never even dawned on me that they would use a different ecu for the brown top vs the black. O.P. can you not find a PM6?

ultimately the PM7 but as the PG7 was for a DOHC and the PM6 SOHC, I would shoot for the PG7 but the PM6 is usually the easiest to get ahold of. Did you message that guy I sent you a PM about?

Damn, well that's the only lead I've got for a PM7....I don't know where you got your PG7....but you could try googling near your area for a import engine place and call them to see if they have a PM7 or PG7, craigslist, ebay........or sadly and expensively enough you can go to Advance Auto and they sell referbished ones for way too much money but they'll have a PM6 and PG7. About four months ago I priced out a PG7 for the hell of it and it was in the $300 range.

Honestly I think his best bet is to chip the PR4 he has, go to Xenocron's website, and get a basemap for a ZC.

The socket is like, $10 I think? And the basemap is less than that IIRC. It's the best way to go, cheap and you'll get EXACTLY what you need. Plus upgrades down the road can be tuned in!

For his situation I kind of agree "bradley" since he's having problems seeking out a proper ECU.
