is there a difference between a fuel sending unit on a 93 hatch vs a 94 sedan?

my gas gauge was frozen in place after letting the car sit and then I got a full tank of gas. drove it for maybe half a mile after the fill up.

went to the u-pull and grabbed a sending unit from a sedan (no hatches or coupes there).

Put it in and though the gauge works again, it wont top out on the gauge itself. is the tank shaped differently so the sedan has a different throw on the float arm or something? they both looked the same to me...and the parts stores only have a part number for the fuel pump assembly...nothing for the fuel sending unit itself so I cant check that way...and man its a pain in the butt getting the retaining ring off with all the goo and crap on it...

 

If the hatch is a CX/VX hatch then maybe, those cars use a different fuel tank, all other '92 - '95 Civics used the same fuel tank though so I'd say the sending unit would pretty much have to be the same.

 

well crap it is a cx model...

glad I kept the old sending unit. I'll fiddle with it and see if I can get the sender to work again I guess.

 

got my original sending unit working again. while I had both pulled out I compared my cx sending unit to the sedan one and they are identical so I guess that answers that. the one I got from the junkyard had its own issues apparently lol.
