i read some mixed reviews, someone mentioned giving the castings a good once over and deburring before installing. any input on them would be good.

The words "cheap" "Ebay" should be your first warning. If you're talking about the OBX ones I heard they were hit and miss.

OEM LSD if you can find one.

quaife or wavetrac. for aftermarket.

IMO unless you have the bank for quaife/wavetrac finding an LSD tranny is probably your cheapest option.

If you're mechanically inclined, people have had success with the OBX LSD but you have to take it apart and reassemble it for it to work for longer than a month.

MFactory and Quaife are good too. I would recommend getting one of them instead.

the phantom slip ones you see on ebay for next to nothing do, well, next to nothing. It's an incomplete copy of someone else's design.

OBX is a really hit or miss, probably more often miss. Those bellville washers everyone talks about? They're just for noise suppression, nothing more. The whole problem with OBX is runout issues and improperly cast parts, and you just can't fix that stuff. If you get lucky and happen to get good one and replace the belville washers's they're fine, key word being if.

Mfactory makes some really nice units, that are reasonably priced for what you get.

I actually just picked up the transmission today it has allegedly 80k miles looks a little corroded from being in a basement. I plan to take it apart and inspect it as best as I can and replace seals, maybe isb. Doesn't look like i can afford a decent lsd so might not do it. mfactory looks like really good quality parts though.

Maybe i'll post in the "what's it worth" thread see if i made out on the transmission or not.

i've read really mixed reviews on the obx, everyone says to really check it over before installing, but i'll be honest i am not 100% on what to look for.

No, the carrier is different too because of the bearings. If you want to use an A000 diff you need an A000 case too. (ring gears swap if you wanted to do this, but I don't know why you would)
