Why do you need 55 watt? Sure. Go ahead if you want things to start melting things and maybe catching fire.

55w kits are not recommended for foglight setups. The housings are awfully small and will often melt whatever housing they're in.

What's the point in doing 6k on headlights and fogs? You're defeating the purpose of fogs.

35w 4k fogs will seriously cut through adverse weather conditions. 55w HIDs will put out plenty of light for night-time driving conditions. And I'm sure you probably have them in an OE housing that scatters the light everywhere too. If you had projectors you probably wouldn't think you needed 6k 55w HIDs in your fogs.

A proper HID setup will blow and plug&play kit out of the water. The difference is unreal in terms of usable light output.

Edit: moved to proper forum.

35w or 55w doesn't really matter for headlights. If you don't have projectors, i.e. a retrofit, I would strongly urge you to use 35w for your safety and other drivers. Traditional halogen housings scatter HID lights all over the place. A good halogn bulb like the Phillip Xtreme will actually light up the read better than a plug and play kit will in the same housing.

55w is a no-no for foglights because the housing is typically small and will get melted or the HID bulb will melt itself due to the heat.

So, if you don't have a retrofit, please use 35w in both and aim your headlights down a bit so you have more usable light and don't blind other drivers.

You will blind the hell out of people with a 55 watt kit.

All you will be doing creating more glare.

Libertariat is this a projector style headlight that's going to work best for an HID setup?

Right now I have halogen projectors and the bulb style is too small to swap in HID's. And I know you said that the halogen projectors wont work. Hoping this is the right type. Projectors but not halogen projectors.

Not that I'm aware of. It just says projectors. Not halo projectors. I'm just not sure if they're HID compatible. The Spyder Halogen Projectors I have now are not. The bulb is too small and OEM style bulbs wont fit in the housing. I suppose I can just call and find out but I wasn't sure if I should just go with a retro fit or if I can get away with those. I don't even have my OEM headlights. They were ruined in an accident I got into last September.

I would wager they aren't. You could call the vendor though and ask.

But for that kind of money, the forum retrofitters would retrofit your headlights with proper projectors, and a good HID kit for ~$300. That's what they quoted me a few months back.

That's what I would do. You'll be a lot happier.

If they don't say they are then they probably are not. Be careful. A lot of online retailers and bundling projectors with HID kits when the projectors are only for halogen bulbs originally (just in case you run across those).

Cool thanks for the info guys. I know a lot of people just slap in HID's in their OEM lights and call it good but it's obnoxious as hell. I don't want to be a ***** and blind everyone. If paying a little extra will give me a lot more illumination on the road I'm ok with that.

A retro-fit is the only way to go, you wont regret the results. Do it right the first time.

This is the easiest kit to install:

With a proper retro-fit you might find that the fogs are useless. I don't even turn them on anymore because the HID's provide ample visibility; of course there are some situations were fogs are handy.
