99 Honda Accord V6
I found a 1999 Honda Accord V6 Sedan with auto transmission and other than the "purple" color it is in excellent condition. Belongs to an older gentleman who had everything done at the dealer and as the only owner has a book of receipts. He's used synthetic since new and the car looks like new with no rust and the gray leather interior is in perfect shape. I know about transmission issues on these and want to know what other items to look for? It has 117, 436 miles so plenty more to go.

In my opinion the transmission was really the only glaring issue these ones had. Aside from the regular issues that any 10-13 year old car would have. Really the same things you would check on most any used car. oil leaks, engine noises, worn suspension parts, exhaust issues, rust etc etc....
Dealer maintained with receipts should be easy to see any ongoing issues.

Thanks. I was pleasingly surprised...Went and took it for a long test drive today; about 30 miles highway and then a 30 mile drive back on backroads...and not only does it look like great but it drives like new, shifts fantastic, firm but not jerky. On my drive however, the check engine light came on. The guy (who is in his 60's) swears it wasn't there the other day when he got gas. I checked and took off the gas cap and tightened it down...he told me not to worry, he showed me a receipt from last week where he got the car inspected and oil changed and said he would take it back to the Honda dealership where he said they know him well. He is selling it after 12 yrs of ownership because he bought a 2012 honda. I'll know in a few days what it is and I may pick it up.
I also have this gen of accord, of course the engine is different however the engine light issue with mine (I'm 99% certain) has to do with the fuel filter being clogged and needing replaced; I've been driving mine around for 10k miles so far and no issues with it however I would still like it replaced. A lot of times this engine code does refer to the gas cap being loose, but in this Honda it seems to be common for it to be the fuel filter instead, engine code will show "evap" issues.
Thanks. I did retighten the gas cap while out driving and no luck. If it is the fuel filter, wouldn't it cause it to run poorly? I called him back and he had taken it to the dealership....so we will see.
I also have this gen accord, and the only check engine light I've had is from an evap canister, and it really isn't a big deal unless you're going for emissions. The transmission may go on you in another 10k miles, but aside from that they are great.
