Default Clunking noise driving me nuts!

2001 DC2R

Tein SS Suspension
Whiteline Rear Sway bar.
2.5" Fujitsubu Catback.

Clunking noise coming from the rear of my car. Happens when i go over some bumps and have recently discovered that when i go up ramps on an angle there is a popping sound.

At first i thought it was something in the boot....but i took out EVERYTHING and it is still there. I even jacked the car up, took the wheels off and put them back on nice and tight...still there! So i have a feeling it is my suspension somewhere. I have a feeling it may be my sway bar or sway bar endlinks. When i jacked the car up i couldnt see anything that could cause such a clunking noise, unless the swaybar moves when the car bounces up and down and possibly hit the chassis?

Anyone else experience this problem? If it is the swaybar endlinks, any ideas on how to fix it?

Thanks!

If they are adjustble the noise is most likely coming from them.

It they look to be adjustble, unbolt them and take the car for a spin and see if the noise continues.

The swaybar itself is adjustible:

"PRODUCT BENEFITS
This Whiteline 24mm 2 point adjustable swaybar = more grip = better handling = outright performance - it's the best dollar for dollar handling improvement you can make to your vehicle. This Whiteline adjustable sway bar allows its rate to be altered by increasing or reducing the length of the lever arms. This permits the roll stiffness to be tuned for different situations without replacing the entire bar. The stiffer the bar, the more force required to move the left and right wheels relative to each other. This increases the amount of force required to make the body roll"

Ok, ill take them off and see how the car drives..thanks

pics added! I dont seem to have any endlinks? :S

i also noticed in this image, the end of the sway bar doesnt seem to be connected to anything and i can move it up and down a fair bit within the bushing...is it not suppose to be joined to anything?

In the first post, the second picture. Shouldn't the endlink bolt be there?

You don't have them?

Can you take a picture of the front of the LCA? That would be really funny if you didn't have them. But, the search for the noise goes on.

Yeah, that is the endlink, and yes, that is a broken endlink.

And that appears to be a leaking Tein coilover.

It does look like a OEM endlink, however, I would contact a whiteline dealer and ask what endlink they reccomend using with that bar. If it is a OE type, you should be able to pick up a OEM endlink.

Yeah. lol That is why I would just jump and order them.

Spending 100+ on endlinks that might not work would suck.

hahaha i would'nt count on it yet! I found some genuine endlinks from Honda wreckers (still $46 each) so wont know for sure the broken endlink is responsible for the sound until i put it on! Stay tuned!
