96 Honda accord, coolant fan only runs when ignition is not on, replaced coolant fan motor and temperate switch.

 

You should replace the fan switch(on thermostat housing in the back of the engine) and get an an OEM Honda issued thermostat.

An easy way to check for thermostat problems is that the hose going to it in the back of the engine will not get hot, even though it should.

When adding coolant, jack the front of the car up as far as the jack will co. Turn the termerature **** in the car all the way to red, then open the bleeder valve, fill the radiator and close the bleeder valve when it comes out with a pour, start up the car and check for the fans to come on.

 

Have you jumped the wires going to thermo a (green connector on t-stat) with the key on.......what happens to the fans (BOTH should run)?

4 or 6 cyl?

 

Yes its a 4 cyclinder and both fans do come on.
