coolant fan won't run when engine is running.
An easy way to check for thermostat problems is that the hose going to it in the back of the engine will not get hot, even though it should.
When adding coolant, jack the front of the car up as far as the jack will co. Turn the termerature **** in the car all the way to red, then open the bleeder valve, fill the radiator and close the bleeder valve when it comes out with a pour, start up the car and check for the fans to come on.
