Alright so, since there's not a how-to for this. I figured I'd make one. This is a how-to for 2-Way aftermarket speakers into a 1996-2000 Civic with tweeter pods.First pick the speakers you want, this install will vary from brand and model of speakers. Also this is assuming everyone knows how to take off their door panels, if not; refer to your Helms or Haynes
Manual.

Parts you need
2-Way Speakers
OEM Tweeter Pods ( if you don't have em) This is only for coupe and hatchback with power mirrors.
76220-S03-J00ZA GARNISH, R. DOOR MIRROR *NH1L*(TWEETER) (BLACK)
76270-S03-J00ZA GARNISH, L. DOOR MIRROR *NH1L*(TWEETER) (BLACK)
Tools you need
Philips Head Screwdriver
Flathead Screwdriver
3M Outdoor Mounting Tape
Small Knife
Scissors
Dremel with cutting discs
Safety glasses

Here's the speakers I went with.

First you will notice that the tweeter shroud is too big for the tweeter pod, so you will have to cut it off

Look at the back and you will notice it is clipped and glued on.

Take your small knife and wedge it between the shroud and bracket and work your way around. Then take your knife and wedge it between the clip and shroud on the side and twist and push the tweeter out.

It should look like this, when disassembled.

Next grab the tweeter and your 3M outdoor mounting tape and cut small strips of the tape and apply it to the tweeter and make sure it is linear with the wires so it doesn't stick to them.

Next you will grab the tweeter and tweeter pod and slide it into the hole and apply it to the tweeter pod(MAKE SURE SURFACES ARE CLEAR OF ANY OIL OR DEBRIS). Let it stand for a minimum of 10 minutes, so the adhesive can do it's thang. Also make sure the tweeter is secured, it should be tight; not loose. If loose, re-apply a new piece of mounting tape. As your fingers have oil on them and will obstruct the adhesion.

It will look like this when fully assembled and you will retain a OEM look.

Next is the woofer portion. Test fit your woofer and you will notice it doesn't fit( MAKE SURE TO CHECK MAGNET TO DOOR WINDOW CLEARANCE). So here is where the cutting with the dremel comes in.

Make sure to start out small, so you don't cut too much off. Take your dremel and safety glasses( plastic pieces will be flying at you ) and cut to the appropiate size to fit your woofer.

As you can see I cut slits in it , so the speaker will clip in and so I won't have to tap the panel for screws.

Nice and Flush

Now reassmble everything and enjoy your new speakers.

I wonder....would this work for sedans as well?
Like, will that black plastic tweeter pod thingy (
) fit on a sedan door?
(it'd be something neat to add to my current sound system)

The mirror plates are bigger on sedans, so it will not fit. The OEM tweeters for sedans go on the door panel.

Oooh....or I could get the pods that mount on the dash....nah, I'm good
I just didn't know if the mirror plates were the same size cuz one is torn up from removing the old window tint and I was gonna replace it anyways and figured "what the heck, if the tweeter pod one will fit, I'll grab that instead and have some extra sound."
But apparently not
XD;
No biggie
Thanks for letting me know so I didn't waste my $$

Not bad of a writeup. This was how I did my old '00 coupe, but the car already had the tweeter "sail" location when I got it.
Did those speakers have separate cross overs, or do the tweets just plug into the speakers?
Also, instead of separating the tweeter from the shell you could of dremeled the pod opening more and slide it in, the bezel from the tweeter makes it look cleaner installed.

In the picture with the box in it, there looks to be a cross over pictured on the box.
I would be shocked if there wasn't.
