79 CB400t
So I just picked up a 79 cb400t. Has around 14k miles on it and looks to be in decent shape. It was a half finished project of a friend of mine and he basically gave it to me.
He bought it from the original owner about a year ago, and it ran, but it bogged under throttle. My friend has the tank and seats off, has the pipes and the carbs disconnected. I was thinking, based on his description of the bogging, I was going to start with the carbs. If anyone has specific experience with this model, feel free to chime in with any specifics, but I was thinking about a thorough cleaning, and pending any damage, a rebuild kit.
It also needs an ignition switch which got me wondering. Did either the TI or TII come with an electronic ignition? Or only kick start? Not that I really mind, but if it would be an easy upgrade, why not?
Also, since this model doesnt come with a tach, has anyone retro'd a newer electronic tach in place of the old mechanical one that came on the TIIs? seems like it would be pretty easy to tap into the ignition to get a universal one running...
Anyways, I am excited about my new project and figured I would share.
