alright so i have a b18b1 in my ej2 and when i first put my swap in last year it revved to 7200
but now it only revs to 5500 once in a blue moon it will rev to 6500

ive tried looking online but some people say maybe fuel filter,tps,map, or speed sensor

i know someone ran into this problem and hopefully someone can help me out

i changed plugs and wires about 10k ago and my friend gave me another dizzy with no cap so i had to swap caps but his was completly shot so i went back to my dizzy but the cap and rotor seemed good and i pulled one plug at a time from the dizzy while running and it gets excellent spark

oh and its a stock motor with stock header, stock cat and stock integra pipping to a vibrant muffler on stock ls computer, and i only run 89 in my car and only from sunoco if it helps any

also when it hits 5500 it acts just like a redline like it use to at 7200

 

Any cels?

 

check engine light on?

 

forgot that too there is no cel on and the bulb still there and truns on when on accessory then truns off and dont come back on

 

When's the last time you changed your spark plugs and cap and rotor?

Have you checked to make sure all your injectors are working?

 

my car idles and drive fine just a reduced redline so i dont think injectors are a issue

Could be a faulty tachometer.

 

it idles and runs fine otherwise so idk how it would be a bad tach cause when it actaully revs to 6500 it will spin in second but when it revs to 5500 it just chirps

 

Check for fouled spark plugs. By chance, what type of spark plug wires are you running? If its MSD Ignition wires, trash them and go back to Genuine Honda or NGKs.

 

Have you checked the timing, given it a tune up? Have you done anything!?

Also, when swapping the dizzys did you mark the ears to insure it went back on in the right spot?

 

wires are i believe duralast but still hold spark perfect and the plugs are ngk and if they were fouled wouldnt it run like **** besides just a reduced redline

like stated above i did a tuneup and timing belt waterpump 10k ago and it runs mint besides the reduced redline but talked with a few local people and they say it could be my map or speed sensor based off similiar issues so im gonna try them tomorrow by cleaning both and making sure wires are good

 

What ECU is in this car?

 

^^ hopefully its a P75, not a P06.

 

its a p75 and was fine when i did the swap last year but im gonna try my p06 cause i used it once before and it revved to 6500



another update:: i checked the plugs today and all were good besides cylinder 3 the spark plug gasket leaked so there was oil on the spark plug, so i took off the valve cover and resealed the spark plugs and calve cover itself but all the plugs were still within gap spec and werent fouled out or anything

 

help im stumped

 

picked up a test pipe tonight so im gonna install that this week to see if it fixes the problem

 

I have ran into this issue before. But mine wasn't revving over like 2k. Changed everything you can think of and it ended up being the piece on the end of the fuel rail with the plastic cover on it. worked perfect after that..

try the speed sensor, same thing happened to me but it was happening at 3500

 

update i went through emissions and passed with about half of the limit and installed my test pipe today and it didnt clear my problem
