2002 RSX Type S
I'm totally new to this RSX forum and RSX's so please dont get pissed if my questions seem retarded. I've never owned a RSX, never been in one and none of my friends have one. I'll try to keep it as brief as possible, 2002 RSX type S, 184K miles, lowered on competition coilovers (never heard of them before), has cold air intake, and it's on bronze rota rims with Falken tires. Says it has a tear on the driver seat and a hole on the driver floor mat, Type R emblems and shift ****, and it's a manual for 6K but says he's flexible on the price. He says the paint/exterior is almost perfect "9 out of 10" with one hail dent on the roof. My whole delima is he lives a hour and a half away and I have no idea what I should be looking for as far as common problems for this model RSX and is it DIY friendly for repairs? Also is it a fair price or should I try to get it for a cheaper price?
Can't help with common problems but ask if he has maintenance receipts. See if the water pump and chain were done at all.
Check the clutch for slipping (with tha car started hold the brake and clutch down and put into gear, slowly let off the clutch and feel for the engagement point - the car should bog down and be close to dying).
Check the Carfax/Autocheck. I like to see how many owners the car has been through.
Most modded cars I steer clear of, but if you like it the take it on a test drive and check the basics.
$6K seems ok, but I'd try and haggle for less with that mileage. I assume it's not a Type S??

Good look out with the Carfax idea. And I feel the same way about modded cars but the only mods are the suspension and intake and yeah the mileage is what gets me.He says it's a type S but has type R emblems and shift ****.....what are the differences between type R and S? Anything I can physically check out besides the emblem to see if it is a Type S?
i'd pay 4.5 -5k for that...more than likely he just has type-r emblems, its a common thing people do...i would be weary about the miles depending on how the car was driven...if it was me i would do a compression test...check to see if you get a large amount of smoke when you get on it...3rd gear synchro grind is normal for these too just like any other honda.
