clutch pedal
hey guys
I have a 91 civic wagon, it has a stock d15 motor with a new stock clutch. When I bought the car I noticed that the clutch cable was long, I had to use washer so that the clutch pedal when pressed down would engage. It was somewhat hard, after awhile my clutch pedal crack.

as you can see theres a lot of washers

you can see that the bracket is broken
Ok so I did research on this subject and found out that its a common problem, now my question is what cable can I use so that the clutch feels smooth and not hard?
and also can I use crx, civic hatch ef , ef four door pedal assembly for my wagon?

you can use a civic cable if needed. your problem is the pedal assembly. once you fix or replace it, the cable should be fine. unless rusty or stretched. then replace. the broken assembly can take up a lot of slack. i have heard crx and civic pedal assemblies should work. you can just take yours out and have it welded up. here is what mine looked like before and after. you can see i added a gusset to beef it up. good luck

i went to napa and just got one for a civic. like a si hatch. after doing the pedal assembly, i didn't need it and took it back. felt like new and no more squeeking. i was tightening it everyday till one day it wouldn't go into gear and i saw a thread on hcw about it and realized it was the assembly and not the cable. i will tell you there is a hidden bolt under the vent duct which i have not put back in (the vent). good luck. it's not fun. but in the end, when you drive it. it will be all worth it. theres a few threads on hcw about it. just not sure when it will return.
I had the same issue with my 90 Wagon. I have a cable B16 swap and an aftermarket clutch. Those 88-91 Civic, Crx, Wagon clutch brackets are very weak. I bought a replacement bracket from a CRX and had bracing welded in before swapping it in.
Works great even with a heavy clutch.

the Civic DX wagon uses a different clutch cable, which is not the same as the CRX, Civic hatch and Civic 4 door - get the correct cable and your problem with cable length will be solved
