OBX TOPMOUNT IS LIKE CRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am shopping around for my manifold now and from the start i had always pictured my build with a top mount. I am leaning towards a DOC Racing top mount. But every time i go online I find myself looking at the OBX top mount. I know its not good but still for that price it is sooooooooooo tempting. Also it has a limited lifetime warranty! This thing is like crack!!!!!!!! Its hard to stay away. Any thoughts on this manifold?

Just for the BLING BLANG factor. I can pick up a cast manifold off my local craigslist for cheap. But i started my build a year ago when i bought my shell and always Pictured me having a top mount with a precision 62626 perched proudly atop it!!!!!!! I finally got the motor built now once i go back to work i can start buying my turbo parts and get the car to the track in the spring!!!! Also I May be wrong but isnt a top mount the best flowing style manifold????
I thought about buying the OBX Top mount and pad welding the whole thing with 309 stainless lol

Get a nice schedule 10 manifold (log style, ram horn, top mount) and be done with it. Nothing sucks like having a manifold crack on you haha.
Also, some top mounts result in it being very hard to run a nice oil feed

OP, do some research on that manifold...if your worried about price, think about how much its going to cost to initially buy it, then keep having it re-welded due to cracks, the downtime your car will see because of the manifold failure isnt worth the up front savings....
Rule of thumb for turbo parts: Buying something cheap, usually ends up costing twice as much in the back-end, as buying something good up front once.

I had an OBX manifold on my last N/A project. It cracked in 3 places.
Imagine what it would have done if it had to support the weight of a turbo while running much hotter temps. That's why I don't buy OBX.
Costs twice as much, but you'll never have to buy another one due to cracking: http://www.go-autoworks-store.com/gotoma.html

I bought a DOC topmount last spring...for some reason the welds kept cracking by the exhaust flange. So irritated by it. If id do it over id just go to AFI, Full Race, Go-autoworks right from the start...
you guys dont know anthing i had an obx top mount withh 44mm waste it made 450 whp frm the previous (n1 andy rip) and it took a a hella of a beatin in my turbo car till i parted out my setup stop bashin stuff cuz of the name try it then give a review
congrats, you're 1 of the lucky ones. I have seen 50+ of these OBX manis cracked.
And we aren't bashing the name, we are bashing the quality of their parts... It's a known fact.
To OP, if you're gonna go cheap on a top mount setup then just go with the SPA cast top mount manifold and you won't have to worry about cracking. Other than that, get the OBX if you want and try it out, OBX will work but once you start making big power the welds won't hold.

You may have to cut the hood open too. Check out the SPA Topmount thread and you'll see.
Just keep it basic and don't worry about the "bling" factor so much, and you might actually have a fun and fast little machine.

Yeah the top mount is my last hold out. I am welder and I work on and off for different companies so cash flow also goes up and down. I have had to down size my build from the dream i started with to fit the funds. lol That is the main reason I am still trying to run a top mount. Any one know of people hiring tig welders in pittsburgh? lol

You can't beat the benefits of a clear mind.
