how much does the crx hatch door weigh?
first of all, i'm new to the forum, so just wanna say hey. hope to become an active member as i'll have a lot of questions going into my projects, and such is the cause of this new thread. i'm looking at some discounted hatch lifts rated for 90lbs each, so just wondering if anyone knows the weight of the hatch and if these arms would actually support it. it doesn't say if they're made for/work with a crx or not, and the measurements are a slightly different than others made for the crx, but i'll do anything to save a buck. thanks in advance, guys.
I bought some for my crx not too long ago. They were about $50. I can't remember the website, i googled the part number for the worn out set i had and found them. The part number was 4611 1106. Hope this helps.
thanks for the response. yeah i can pick them up at any store for around that much, but im so cheap that i'm interested in this pair i found for $15 that somebody has in surplus. i can't imagine the hatch door weighs 180 pounds though, so i guess i'll just go for it. i'll write back to complain when the thing slams on my head after the install!
If you really want to save money find a wooden broom handle, cut it to length and prop up the hatch. That's what I did till I got my lift supports.
they weigh a ton ... 90 is probably a good estimate
and the struts never last very long maybe 2 years if you are extra lucky
I have a vice grip that i clamp on to the strut to keep it up while getting stuff out
