Default Well, I finally did it. ITR # 00-0272 (?)

Its been my dream since I was a kid(18yrs old) to own one. Back in december of 00, i was able to drive back to back a new 01 gsr and a new 01 Itr. Its not just "25 hp" or "1 more lug nut". I will never forget that feeling . I just couldnt afford it at the time being the dam dealer wanted 5k on top of sticker price.

So fast forward 11 years and some months. As of late, Ive been seeing a lot of good deals pop up, but the thought of buying a 10 year old car and then having to do all the maintenance and worry about the R's past abuse just wasn't helping me convince my self I needed this car. Of course there are those gems that pop up that need next to nothing with well under 80k miles but I don't have 12k-17k cash.

This bad boy popped up on the local craigslist last thursday night. As i was relaxing in the restroom i'm browsing the auto classifieds and see this car posted. i looked at the time stamp of the listing and immediately thought to my self , " FUKC! too much time has gone by". The cars gone.Well lucky for me the owner responded and said he has offers to buy the whole car. Then he goes on to say he has two guys wanting the car next week when income tax gets here. So my natural response was why wait when you can have cash now. He said make him an offer and i said i need to see the car. he said well if you wanna come now , go ahead. Mind you this was at midnight.

Well i show up and i could not believe my eyes at how intact the car was. Next thing i did was pop the hood. the dam intake along with transmission and axles were still in the engine bay just hanging there. The owners explaination for all this was the car was stolen from him back in cali but he didnt have insurance so there was never a salvage title issued. I knew i had to get my hands on it. Some other guy happens to show up and the bidding war begins.

By this time it was dam near 3am and i had to be up by 6am to run some errands before the wife went to work. I said eff it, how much cash do i need right now to take the car home? Guy responds give me x$ and u can have it. i could have gotten it for about 2k but people were blowing this kid up all dam night making all kinds of stupid offers and promises. My dilemma was i didn't have all the cash at the moment. So i called up a good friend who happens to own a JDM MR ITR-X, and said look man, I need cash now. I will have it back to you in the morning when the bank opens. His only question to me was"how long will it take you to get here?". I gave the kid a grand cash and I said , here man, take this I'm going to pick up the rest. I have to drive 50 miles right now round trip but I will be back with your money for the car. I'm leaving you a thousand bucks. when I come back im picking up my type r. if you come back and say somebody has a better offer then I need more cash back. Nobody touches or borrows money from me for free. If you're gonna raise the price by having my cash in hand then i need at least 2000 grand back. I will be here in one hour.

1 hour , 50 mile round trip later, dude has a bill of sale typed up. He clearly stated it has a clean title. If it doesn't I'm still undecided what I will do if the title comes up salvage, but either way I still think I got a steal . By the time the car was picked up and delivered at my house , it was 530 am. Needless to say I didn't sleep at all till Friday night , but its been worth every minute of lost sleep.I'm still speechless.

many parts are on the way, and the car is pretty much almost whole. not bad for a few days work. Enjoy

P.S. Just as i was about to leave with the tow truck, the old owner says "Hey , by the way the cars badge number was #272. Just thought you'd like to know."

****a little update about the title. autocheck score is a 94 and has a clean title

Nice find! I'll say you got lucky. I've been in the same situation with being on site and people blowing up the owners phone. Even had people arrive 1 minute after me. What an awkward feeling.

Little more than "tlc", she has two noticeable dents on each quarter panel , but its going to the shop tomorrow. Ive already completed my shopping for the exterior . Few more things for the interior and im gonna concentrate on the motor. I maybe in the market for a bare b18c5 block.

Congrats on the pick up; she looks solid. Like my man Frank said "The best is yet to come". Lots of luck on the build.

I did consider this but its cheaper for me to find a c5 block and make the car whole considering the fact i already have all the parts needed for a swap. Later on down the line she will definitely get a heart transplant.

for that price id rather go k. i have my eyes on two c5 blocks right now. i can build it new and know its done right. all i need is a head but im more focused on getting the parts needed to make her whole on the outside and inside before i worry about the engine. im about 75% there. ill be updating with pics as the parts come in.

Do you already have a b-series you can cannibalize for parts? Keep in mind with bare block you will needto order all screws, sensors and harnesses for the motor. Might be easier to pick up a used swap and rebuild it.
