Runs fine when your on it and driving around but when it comes down to an idle it runs really rough and sounds like it has some big cams or something. any help??

 

plugs, wires, dist. cap, rotor button, fuel filter, bad injector, clogged cat, bad o2 sensor? check em.

 

start your car pop, the hood open
begin pulling spark plug wires from the valve cover one at a time be careful you might get shocked but you will live. ha ha
the car may die simply reinstall the wire and fire it back up
run through all four spark plug wires until you find the misfire .. or the wire or wires you pull that does not change how the car is running.
this is where your misfire is at.
now you can center your diagnostic around this cylinder.

is there spark at the end of the wire? how strong is it ?
just because there is spark does not mean that it is strong enough to fire off the the cylinder. spark checkers can also be misleading. i like to ground out the spark plug wire with a screw driver and see how far i can get the spark to jump.

if all looks well pull the spark plug from the misfiring cylinder
does it smell like gas ?
or look wet?
if its wet you know that the injector is working ...or at least squirting fuel.
if it is dry try wiggling the injector plug to see if you can get it to fire.

if your car has fuel and spark it is time to test compression .

post up your findings

 

Possible an egr valve stuck open

 

Clean your iacv. Should clear up as long as you plugs, wires and timing is straight. If it just started happening after a rain or washing your car then check your cap and rotor.

 

Any cels?

 

compression test is 160psi across the board.
i pulled each plug wire and i could tell they all were working because every time i pulled a plug wire it bogged down a bit.
no cel. and timing is on
