Default diy gauges

how/where do the gauges get their feed? I'm wondering on two parts. one, to tighten the bouncy behavior of my needles. two, to make my own dash, like this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YV0ieVETqrs

yes, the vid has links to instructables. I am just looking for this community's take on how to do this. on this note, what are things worth monitoring in your engine? pressures, temperatures, etc. I know some probably wouldn't vary much, but would it be possible to have a readout of most of the things in your engine?

Go to http://mycomputerninja.com/~jon/www....y/WebHome.html and have a look in the library section under Datalogging. All the data you would want to gather about the engine running can be retrieved using a datalogging system if you get a chipped ecu and have the right stuff to run it. That site is the tip of the iceberg in terms of what you need to know to accomplish what you think you want to.

There is already so much done to datalog the EF, there is absolutely no sense in re-inventing the wheel. Next, just get a HRtuning tunerview for like $100 and it can log the output of the OBD0 system once you chip the ecu to include datalogging, if you have an SI.

you need to read a whole lot more before you can do what is in that video.. The guy that runs HRTuning hangs out in the engine management and tuning section, so if you have questions about tunerview, he can explain more. There is also plenty to read in that section. https://honda-tech.com/forums/engine-management-tuning-124/

Bouncing needles? You can clean and grease your speedo cable, and the distributor or tach might be going. All are fixable, but if you like digital dash they basically a 1 or 2 wire hookup for each gauge. You just need to know what colors are what, preferably with a service manual. I'm a fan of the stock gauges, I just added a pod with oil pressure and voltage.
