Default Question about Type R camshaft on gsr head

I was wondering if I need to upgrade to type r valve springs. My current setup B20 vtec: stock b20b block, stock gsr head, b16 tranny, skunk2 68mm tb and im, stock 4-1 type r header, full type r exhaust, test pipe, AEM 3 inch cold air, 181whp 13.8 street tires looking to get a little more. I bought the type r cams already just waiting to install. Thanks in advance

Do i really need to upgrade springs though? My redline is 8k planning to change to 8200. I dont think i can run any other cams other than type r because of the valve clearance with stock b20 piston.

OK So just intake valve springs. I heard the gsr exhaust cam is the same as itr exhaust cam. true?

Sorry for the late bump. but the itr ex cam is bigger that the gs-r ex cam and therefore not the same. if you dont plan to go bigger than 8500(which you shouldnt with itr cams) you might be able to get away with stock springs. but it would be smart to upgrade to at least itr springs/and different retainers for safety. and PLEASE get rid of that itr exhaust if you havent already that is soooooo restrictive. especially for a 2.0 block.

gsr intake = itr exhaust, any reason why you couldnt switch them?

move gsr intake VS to exhaust then buy itr intake

I didnt explain that before

I've heard n seen that putting the type r cams on a gsr setup makes the car run lean as hell. I went n looked at one the other day (to buy) the thing warmed up rich as anything, once warm it leaned out nearly over heated. Needless to say I walked away from the car, but I'd do more research before doing it.
