1996 EX Accord Speakers/Sound System
Hey guys, I'm planning to take out a lot of the sound system that's currently in my accord and replace it (downgrading actually...bleh). Anyway, this will be the first time I take this kind of stuff down in this particular car; and I'm running into some weird issues online.
Apparently no matter what I look for online I keep getting different speaker sizes for the car; only a few places seem to line up; so I'm curious if anyone can confirm.
Front Dash: Tweeters (basically can't replace this from what I've read)
Front Door: 6 1/2in
Rear Deck: 6x9in
Also, I'm planning on putting in two 12in subs; since one of the things i'm taking out is an amp, and I still have my old stuff from my previous car laying around. I can tell already from just opening the closing the trunk that I'm going to have atleast alittle rattle; and a few searches later on the forum doesn't turn up too much information on tricks specifically for the accord to stop it. So if anyone has any hints for that, it would greatly appreciated. (or a link to a possible write up)
Thanks in advance.

i had the same car. you are correct on speaker sizes. i highly suggest alpine type r's for dependability and quality sound. they sound great just hooked straight up to the stereo. two 12s will definitely produce rattle. you will need dynamat on the truck lid and inner trunk area and some duct tape under the license plate. i just unplugged the two front tweeters and reinstalled for stock look. stock ones sound horrible. use a flathead to pop the cover off the tweeters
onlinecarstereo.com has the cheapest prices i have been able to find and free shipping for orders over $99
look to the list on the left side. sound dampening is where the dynamat is located.

Thanks a bunch!
I ended up keeping the front speakers; infinity component, right now I'm using some little kickers for the back (six inch circular...will replace them when I can).
Yes; the sub generates some interesting rattle when sitting in the car; sounds like some the passenger side; will get some dynamat going as soon as I can.
On a side note; I didn't spend too much time because by time we got to it, was dark and cold; but I couldn't find a place to run the speaker wires from the amp (under passenger seat) to the trunk! Anyone got any tricks; or am I going to be drilling a hole? I may be asking it prematurely as I'm going to be researching it right now, and ofcourse if I spend more time just looking at it, I'm sure it'll find something.

whether you mean the power wire or the speakers wires i do them both the same way. remove the bottom seat belt bolt. remove the plastic cover next to the passenger seat the and kickpanal on passengers side. now they carpet can be pulled up and you can run the wires under the carpet to the back
Yeah the power and the ground go under the carpet from the front along with the RCA and REM. The speaker wire; which like I said I just had to look at it without rushing to see that the seat easily drops and allows you to tuck it, then put it under the kick panels and then under the carpet as well! SO! I got my 12's connected and got everything looking clean!
Thanks for the help guys!
