Looking to Start Autocross. Info Please
As the title says I recently got my b18c swap finished in my 91 CRX HF and I want to try out autocross. I have drag raced and dabbled in dirt track a few times, but never autocross.
So here are my main questions.
Cost?
Classes? Which would I be in?
What do I need to do to the car before I can race?
Payouts? -Dirt track has em.
Thanks for the info!
Ill be in Western Texas soon, but for the moment I am in Billings MT.

Specifics will depend on who is hosting the event, but cost is generally pretty low around 25-50$ for several runs. As far as what needs to be done to the car all they really care about is safety, which they asses via a brief tech inspection before you can run the course. Make sure everythign is secure such as the battery, tires arent bald, no loose items in the car. As far as classes you would probably fit into the small sedan class, but ive personalyl never entered a class Ive always just done time only. And ive never heard of a autocross competition having payouts, although class winners get a trophy at the end of the season. THeres probably variation between various venues as far as specifics but thats the gist of it.
Cost? - For a local event anywhere from $10-$50
Classes? Which would I be in? - SMF
What do I need to do to the car before I can race? - Make sure battery is secure, wheel bearings good, oil topped off, and general safety check.
Payouts? -Dirt track has em. - National events will have contingencies and payouts.

a few things we pay attention to are throttle return and brake pedal feel. aside from that the stuff above. if you have a sub make sure it is very secure. take all the loose stuff out of your car.
ride with people.
walk the course several time until you can drive it in your head.
focus on going at a controlled speed and staying on course, speed will come later.
dont go there expecting to be very good at it, though with your background you will likely do ok.
find someone with a similar car and get info on tire pressures etc, see if you can ride with them
