Extreme Performance Tire for High Boost
Thanks to E-85 my car has enough power to turn most tires into smoke (462 lb ft) as a daily driver. I know nothing will "dead hook" 2nd gear like a bias ply, I'm not looking for that.
I run boost by gear to control and limit wheel spin, however, I want a tire that will give me the most straight line grip without needing a burnout to make them sticky.
I have a pair of slicks for the track only stuff and I dont want to get a pair of 235s M&H or M/T. I want to be able to get 10k miles from the tires although this isnt absolutley set in stone.
Currently I have Star Specs, before that Azenis both in 205/50-15 but I'd like to step up to a 225/45-15. I dont want to go above and beyond in height.
The tires Im looking at are Star Specs, RE-11, R-S3, AD07, AD08, etc... I liked the Star Specs in 205, and would get them again if they made a 225, I'm leaning toward the Hankook R-S3s...

I don't see a mention as to what vehicle you have. Also, are you planning on rolling your fenders/quarter panels, to increase wheel/tire clearance?
The car is H22 EK, 603whp, 462lb ft, 2,800lbs.
I'm leaning towards the R-S3s but I would like to hear from someone that has ran them to confirm that they are a good choice.
The fenders are rolled enough to fit the 24.5s when I go to the track and as such, I dont keep it lowered or axles break too easy.

I got a H also and put down 553whp with 420tq. I'm rocking Toyo Proxy RA-1's and 1st and 2nd gear with that kind of power is pointless on the street without a slick.

I ran the kuhmo xs for a while. They are pretty darn sticky. I don't have any complaints and had read great reviews before making my purchase.

They are indeed awesome tyres for the price^^. I can't relate to you turbo guys (NA AutoX'er), but Star Specs are an awesome choice. With that power level I would only imagine a true slick will get all that power to the ground.
So after looking around I think the best tire for me will be the 225/45-15 RS-3's. It should be a pretty good balance of size, grip, and longevity while still being a real street tire. Has anyone out there ran these with over 500whp in this size on a Civic?
