I thought I would share this...finally got my SCCA license. Im pretty excited, 6 hrs of track time over 3 days was pretty intense but ridiculously fun.
Im pretty happy, the car held up well and I improved a lot of things I struggled with in the past. Im still not getting turn 1 down and a few other areas but its coming along. I ran a 1:24.8 on friday with R888s which was my best time as well as the fastest time in my group.
Some of the video we are practicing race starts and waving off for cautions....Race 2 there was a legit caution when a Spec Miata crashed and totaled his car in turn 1.
Motor is around 160 whp non vtak
Race 1 qualified 2nd

Race 2 qualified 3rd

Awesome. Buccaneer Region School? Cool videos, thanks a bunch.
Any insight into if it was harder/easier or anything else you'd like to share about the school experience?

Yup Buccaneer Region. It was easier than I thought it would be, my experience with track days helped a lot. I would personally recommend doing a few track days at least at the track you're going to go to school at. Trying to learn the track and learn how to handle traffic and wheel to wheel racing is a lot to take in.
The instructors were excellent, the head guy running the school holds a track record at Roebling for H Production in a Honda, and my instructor used to drive a Honda challenge car and won a championship in a Formula Mazda. So these guys knew what they wre talking about and also could relate with the FWD car.
I made some new friends and thought the School was run very well.

Go to SCCA.com and click club racing then driver schools. I think there are some single schools coming up at Sebring and Daytona. You need 2 schools or a double like I did.
Pre req, join scca, fill out scca physical form at your doctor, apply for novice permit. You do all that through scca then pick your school.
Some people had 0 track time out there.
The school I went to is every year in Feb. at Roebling.
Sebring race this weekend with some of the guys from my site if you can get over there. You need an SCCA membership to get in.
Take a look at sedivracing.org and the scca stuff I linked.

Yeah the car would need to be tech'd, with all your gear, and classed properly. I saw a guy in a panoz go thru a lot of crap because he had the wrong motor and the wrong parts in the class he picked.
The crx you are running could be in STU or STL with a USDM K motor.
Basically roll cage, fire system or bottle, up to date harnesses, and other misc.
If you just want your license you could rent a vehicle for the weekend as well.

Yeah, roll cage needs to be DOM 1.5 x .095 for your car.
The pickup points would differ greatly from one class to another but I'm just running an IT cage setup for now so I can convert from STL if I want down to ITB.
It's not that hard to figure out if you really want to do it. I can send you some pics if you want?

Yeah it seems to be the best bang for the buck school.
I should be there in April myself for the double race weekend with SCCA for my first actual race.
