Speedometer/electrical issues?
Hello all,
This is my first post but I've been lurking on here for the past couple of years. I have learned a great deal and I've used the tech articles to fix a couple of problems on my 94 accord. This one has me baffled. I've done a search but nothing related to this one, or I haven't used the right wording. Anyway,
while driving the accord the speedometer will suddenly quit working altogether. It just drops to zero. Then works, then quits, then works for 20 minutes, then wont work for 10, so on and so forth. I've noticed the car loses power ever so slightly when it does this, but keeps on running without a hitch. If it stops working for longer than 20 minutes the check engine light will come on and stay on until I turn the ignition off. Then, upon cranking, everything is fine again for a little while.
Anyone seen this before?
Thanks for any and all input!

Its likely throwing a code for a faulty vehicle speed sensor.
I had one go out on me and it did the same thing.
The vehicle speed sensor (vss) is located on top of the transmission directly underneath the thermostat housing.
It has a three wire hookup and two ten milimeter fasteners holding it in place.
Replace it and you should be good to go.
One other note, if and when you do replace it, use some dielectric grease to hold the speed sensor shaft in the housing while you install it, otherwise that thing will fall out everytime.
Good luck.
